Now Available: Pimax Play EVO

roughly 4 hour

That does not work, when i open the email i click the link it takes me to the evo page, when i then click to register for early access it brings me to options to purchase a headset with the software.

As a update, as of 12:15am est on 6-19-26, the webpage was fixed and it is now showing up

That was qiuck got the software link is less then 2 minutes

I bought pimax crystal super when I heard hand tracking would be available .

If there is a subscription or charge for it ,I will sell the headset and buy from a decent company that isn’t greedy .

So far I’m not impressed with pimax attitude .

I’ve no idea why this happens: I went to the webpage and entered my usual email that is registered to my product and existing versions of Pimax Play and no email arrived after several hours of waiting. However, when I used a Gmail account the email and link arrived immediately. If I recall correctly, the same thing happened when I initally tried to sign up for the PP beta. Pimax: why is this happening when my usual email works fine when activating my Crystal Light account and Pimax Play?

So, after checking EVO out, I guess it’s simply an adjunct to Pimax Play (2.0.1) Classic since per game configurations are only available -as yet - there. Also, limited utility for Crystal Light at present. For me, therefore, I’ll just have to hold my breath until something like hand-tracking comes along. Otherwise, it installed fine; the switching back and forward works fine; and, it doesn’t seem to have broken anything

So …..

We got Pimax Play, We got the 2.0 beta and now we got the Evo.

All three of them are causing issues and the beauty is that you are signalling to your community who pay a lot of money for their (sometimes bookstands) headsets to also need to start paying for the EVO in 6 months to finance your development. Say what? Fix your main core software with everything that has been promissed before to your well paying customers.

Do not get me wrong, I’m happy with my headset en the PimaxPlay from over half a year ago (that works at least for my use cases) however to be honest and fair…. I should not have trusted the words before to finally make a Pimax purchase. Yes it is a niche world (unfortunately still), but these kind of business decisions will never make it mainstream.

It is by the way typical Pimax need to pull in Jaap again to do damage control. I feel for you buddy.

Edit: Just thinking on the ‘business decision’. Let it sink in for a bit…

I don’t think people, including myself, are ranting about the extra money to be payed for new features. The problem is that you are complaining about the resources and development costs that need to ripple down to consumers while the main app is not working. Get your act together and spend your resources at the place where they belong first. Your core mandatory application required to run the headset with everything you promised in there. IF this was/is working as required, no one would argue with you having a second team working on something special for which people can opt in for a certain cost tag.

I have a problem with EVO and my wireless mouse. It seems to freeze every 2seconds for 1 second. Not sure if this is my whole system. Also why isn’t this support forum a quick link to a suggestion thread for EVO on the EVO frontend link support link

ok glad its not just me! just noticed the same thing, if you open task manager or device manager (any windows admin window) the stutter is gone while its in focus. I’ve tried disabling HAGS, adding pimax folders to defender exclusion lists, changing mouse polling rates, disabling gsync and lowering monitor settings to low refresh rate etc… no solution so far. @PimaxQuorra

Anecdotal, but yea even running in pimax play mode to resolve the mouse stutter, VR games are a stutter fest using the new sboys3 “native” driver vs old pimax play install and the global sboys3 driver.

I thought I’d go back to beta 2.01, but no luck its either EVO or 1.44.2. Tried enabling public test channel. I couldn’t even get sboys3 working with evo

You can download 2.0.1 from Pimax site now.

A couple issues so far…

  1. Screen recording is square: With my Crystal Super Ultrawide, even when I select 1920x1080 in the Screen Recording options, the recording does change from 4K to 1920x1080, but the actual screen within that video is still square ratio with black bars either side of the eye view. With my old Pimax OG Crystal there used to be a setting where it would take a slice of the middle of the eye view so that the screen mirror took up the whole area of the 1920x1080, not just a square in the middle. As it is, it is not good for streaming to Youtube etc.

  2. With the Crystal Super Ultrawide, the screen recording is shown curved, not flat. The old screen mirror used to be flat, which was good for steaming. Maybe this is worse with the Ultrawide?

  3. If the options to change the Home Screen, restart the headset, and restart the Service are available in EVO, it is not clear where they are. I keep having to swap back to Pimax Play 2.0 to adjust these features.

They should should start an Announcements Lab, where they roll out new announcements.

And if you subscribe now it will be free for 6 months.

I’m a little bit worried about idea to offer this as subscription service.

Same here. Regular mouse stutters. I had to uninstall to get them to go away.

Yep, can’t get rid of the room boundaries either.

I really loved Pimax Evo over Pimax Play and the new home scene looks much much better now.

But I cant use Pimax Evo until you guys add horizontal/vertical offset IPD settings. Its unbearable for me because left and right eye see different vertical offset and it causes severe eye strain when using the headset.

Physical IPD setting is not enough, I need IPD Offset too for Crystal Super Ultrawide to be usable. So I have to go back to Pimax Play until Evo improves

UPD: I just realised that going back to Pimax Play Classic doesnt bring back IPD offset. What do I do? Headset became unusable for me due to eye strain! Even Pimax Play is going to fully remove IPD Offset!? Its a critical downgrade tbh

UPD: I have finally found an IPD Offset option with Pimax Play Classic 2.0.1. After toggling “Advanced Settings” in Settings menu of the device I went to Image/Performance tab and found IPD Horizontal/Vertical Offset setting. Now I brought back my comfort and Ultrawide is usable again. Even though convenience of adjusting offset has degraded compared to the previous version of the Pimax Play: in order to see the changes I need to click save and put back the headset on my face, whereas previous versions allowed to just press keyboard arrows and see the updates instantly without having to take off the headset.

ok a couple of issues for me with EVO and the Super Ultrawide.

  1. recording view is very dark- and not large enough. It’s a small box that doesn’t come close to filling the screen..
  2. I use my studio (neumann) microphone running through a scarlett interface for audio input. EVO plays it back on the recordings ONLY on the right ear, regardless of how I have it set in WIndows.
  3. Evem though I set IL2’s game volume to below 40%, it still drowns out my recorded voice over.
  4. Things that were adjustable in pimax play (eye offset; turning off the headset centering routine) do not seem to be available in EVO.
  5. The frame counter is visible in the hangar in IL2, but not in game play in the cockpit. EVO has terrific potential- I look forward to seeing these minor glitches being sorted.
