Now Available: Pimax Play 2.0 Open Beta

Hi Quorra, do you have any updates on the progress of the Beta 2 update?
Thanks.

I would also like to know when the update is expected as well as if it will include a fix to the eye tracking calibration failure on the dream air?

Today I got update for Pimax Play. It now says it’s version 2.0.1, no mention if it’s still beta.

I know. When switched to lighthouse tracking neither the lighthouses or index controllers work. I have four (4) lighthouses. Could that be an issue?

When will we hear about Linux support?

Hi PimaxQuorra!
Have you rolled out the WiFi AirLink to all OG users yet or is it still sending you the serial number that will add to your list? I recently bought another OG with another serial number (obviously) but neither that or my old headset that should be on the list is upgrading. beta 0.9.0 reported by the headset AIO or firmware 1.3.0_au0531 from Pimax Play.

… and as long as nothing breaks hardware wise and I can roll back, I’m ready to test whatever stable/unstable version out there and give useful feedback. With 2 OG’s I can keep one in super-beta

It has already been fixed. Are you still unable to complete the eye-tracking calibration?

No, it hasn’t been rolled out to all users yet.

If you’d like to give it a try, just send me the headset serial number via DM.

Trying 2.0.1 with v610.47 of the nvidia drivers for the 5090.. granted i updated the display driver from several ones before, i’m getting lots of stuttering (smart smoothing) with msfs 2024 even with frames near 36 (72hz), whereas before i was not, with 1.x and the other nvidia driver, maybe coincidence ? Pimax Super at “50” for dynamic foveated and even tried 32, it was somewhat better but i didnt need to do this before v2.0.1 beta , anyone else? Previous Nvidia was 591.86;

EDIT: switched to 1.44.2, same issues, so i guess it wasnt pimax play

1.44.2 has issues with smart smoothing with most games (I have an RTX5090 with an 9800X3D)

1.43.9 works, but has an issue with OpenXR toolkit (in case you’re using it)

I had some iterations with Pimax support and they managed to fix the issue for smart smoothing (through swapping a new pi_server.exe file). They told me the fix should make it to the next release.

There’s a report from another user that updating to the latest driver sorted out the issue.

which driver (nvidia?) and which issue

Yes, now that the pimax play 2.0.1 update is released and installed, eye tracking calibration now completes successfully on the dream air.

610.62 nvidia did help (released on 6/16/26), i couldnt get it to retrigger the 2.0 download again though, so i used the above link to test 2.01.222_202606121821 exe

At least with this and page az test i did (small addon), it was very smooth again.

I then however tried the new KHPN in NY and it was being weird, wouldnt lock 36 fps, it was actually higher, around 39 for some reason. So smart smoothing seems hit or miss here. or its because i used that other installer, is there a direct link to the correct one if thats not it.

Noticeable performance drop with Star Citizen. I rolled back to 1.43 and all is well again.

is that 1.43.9 or 1.43.0?

1.43.9 is what is best
