xivgaki,
Thanks for the heads-up. Been a long time for us 8kx users. The first thing I noticed was an extreme loss in FPS. I’m sure it will return as I find the right combinaton of settings. Let’s hope it continues to function with later Nvidia revisions.
In the mean time however, it works. . . Yeah!
I’ve been using PP 1.43.7.259 for a while now with 566.36 and have been quite happy with my FPS.
Time will tell. . . Right?

@stixvr have you tested latest Nvidia Driver? Judging by the last 2 posts it might be fixed now.
Just Installed Nvidia 610.62. 8Kx is still working and it spared me from having to figure out where my FPS went under 610.47. FPS has returned as it was while using version 566.36. This is great! Hope it’s working for others.

Just taken it a step further . . . and installed Pimax Play v2.0.1 released today 16/6/26.
Nvidia still working. . .
There is really no visual improvement to note at the moment i.e. FPS increase but, it’s seems stable.
Is there any advantage to 2.0.1 perhaps. Some may find aspects that help them with their particular configurations. You just have to play with versions and stick with what works.
I do not have a fancy rig and yet seem to get better performance than others report with their higher-end rigs.
9900K
RTX-3070Ti
Remember it’s not about FPS so much as is fluidity, anything over 50 FPS is enough to trick the brain.

I also tried 2.0 and 2.1 but on my 8kx at 1.0 or 1.2 settings and the viewing angle is normal, the image is stretched horizontally and the vertical is reduced, approximately 7000x3000 in the FPSVR program it is visible and this puts a heavy load on the system. In PP 1.44 at the same settings everything is fine, the image is 4700x3800, the vertical and horizontal are perfect.
Who has 8kx, check if everything is like this on 2.1? Thanks
steam vr in the image settings is 100% and not automatic because automatic stretches even more.

Pimax us likely playing with there resolution scale again. Sorry in theory a lower setting that matches should le be in all gnment with 1.44’s setting.
Now that the Nvidia side is fixed on max can work on fixing the new stretch ussues @PimaxQuorra (presuming this is also fixed fi RTX 5000 GPUs).
I’m seeing reports that the 5090 / Pimax 8K-X bug is fixed, is this correct? I moved and just got my VR space setup in the new house. Only PC upgrade is a 5090, which replaced my 4090. I’m seeing my 8kx USB connection, but the Display Port connection never works, and the headset is continually reported as Disconnected. I have tried a few fixes (disable NVIDIA audio drivers, for example), clean installed both Pimax Play and NVIDIA drivers, etc.
Just to confirm you are using latest Nvidia driver?
Yes, the latest NVIDIA driver. I have tried both the Game Ready and Studio versions. Clean installed. I will be able to troubleshoot further in the near future, as I still have the 4090 on-hand to reinstall, an old Win10 boot drive, etc.

What’s the headset serial? Starts from 2076?
Yesterday, I ran a test on the 8KX units (2075 and 2076) with the NVIDIA Studio Driver v610.62. Both headsets were detected and connected successfully without any issues.
Do test 8kx on firmware 2.1. can this be fixed?
I wrote about this problem recently.
I have an 8kX headset, and I was using firmware 1.44.2, setting 1.2, and the viewing angle is normal. The visual resolution in the game is approximately 4600x3700, and I was happy with everything.
I tried firmware 2.1, and with the settings at 1.0 and the normal viewing angle, the picture is stretched very much horizontally and reduced vertically, reaching approximately 7000x3000, and it becomes unplayable. No matter how I changed the viewing angle to 0.8-0.7, it doesn’t help. The horizontal stretches and the vertical decreases. It’s 6000x2500, and so on.
This is also a problem with firmware 2.0.
Can you fix it? It’s not stretching the screen horizontally for 8K. Thank you.
Do you mean that the FoV is normal in Pimax Play 1.44.2, but in Pimax Play 2.0.1 the image appears to be stretched horizontally, resulting in a reduced vertical FoV?
Let me report this to the dev.
Yes, you are right, on 2.1 with parameters normal and 1.0 -1.2 it stretches the horizon 7000 and the vertical 3000 if you reduce 0.8-0.7 then the horizon will be a little better 5500 x 2500 but the vertical decreases even more, and this is a problem.
Test 8kx on firmware 2.1 and you will see it immediately.
In my opinion, when in Pimax Play 1.44 and older with settings 1.0 -1.2 when you changed the FOV from normal to small, then instead of (4800x3800 normal) the resolution also changed (3800x3800 small)
And in Pimax Play 2.1 with settings 1.0 1.2 - when you change the FOV from normal to small, the resolution does not change, it remains approximately 7000x3000, it changes, the black contour of the horizon increases along the edges, I don’t know how to explain it))) test it and you will understand, thank you
Steam VR resolution settings are set to 100%

I conducted a test with the 8KX on Pimax Play 2.0.1.
When switching between all four FoV modes, I could see the render resolution changing in SteamVR as expected (a SteamVR restart was required for the change to take effect).
Would you mind exporting a log file and sharing it with me? If possible, please switch between the different FoV modes before exporting the logs, as that may help us identify what’s happening on your system.
Thanks for the answer. And what resolution did you have in Steam VR in PP 2.0.1 with normal and small FOV settings at 1.0 or 1.2?
I’m currently on 1.44.2 and it works fine with normal and 1.2 settings, I have a resolution of approximately 4700x3600.
I’ll try to reinstall PP 2.0.1 one of these days and check again and take logs
Because when I checked the 2.0.1 firmware I encountered the problem that I described earlier. It’s very strange because when I changed the FOV on firmware 2.0.1 I rebooted the VR steam (after changing the FOV and settings in the PP I always reboot the helmet and completely turn off the steam and reboot the VR steam but it didn’t work the image was stretched horizontally as I described before.)
Maybe someone else from user 8kx check your helmet on firmware 2.0.1
Tested the 610.62 driver with my 2076 serial 8KX today on a 3080 GPU, it worked! Finally no more 566, thank you so much for staying on this issue PimaxQuorra.
My serial number is worn off. I can see only the last 5 digits. Is there a database which lists full serial numbers of all Pimax equipment? If so, I can probably narrow it down. (Fixed! I just tried Pimax Play 2.0.2 and it now magically works. See post below in main thread.)
I now know my serial number, because Pimax Play v2.02 (with the current latest game-ready Nvidia driver) has solved the issue! At least, it appears to have done so; my 8kx is detected and showing the Pimax home-screen. My serial number starts with 2075
