Why Lolof1 cancelled his 8KX order and went for the G2

In ther meantime, i have make my own perfect matched mask suitable for every Pimax.
And one unused comfort kit, if i sold my HMD.

I’m only answering for my self of course Heliosurge you are correct overall. I would say that i would prefer SteamVR tracking solution over any other currently available, and i do not like saying that, but that alone makes me favor the HMD’s that use that system. SteamVR has annoyed me to no end with there continual updates that often brake my previous settings and i have to re-apply, i will not go on a rant here but i would be quite capable.

edit; i guess i’m not yet done here. I do not think @Fabrizio is wrong here with his statement either because he can as so many others form an opinion maybe not as concrete if he had both devices in his hands, but there are other angles to look at specs for one through the lens an other. Subjectivity. Hunch intuition. Maybe not the best but still can form an opinion not entirely wrong. I’ll wait to see the first real comparison video’s.

Unfortunately I think you are correct

There is a lot of people whom follow blind faith. I could say all kinds of things about vr headsets I or majority of people have never laid hands on or has yet to even release a prototype. Now there are many tutorials and videos of people using steamvr tracked controllers on non steamvr headsets. @crony long before the Kickstarter had been experinenting using SteamVR tracking and other neat things with other headsets.

Although Antvr is dead it seems. I’d still be interested in trying their last vr headset (Cyclops?)as it had some really neat ideas like roomscale carpet and used Shudder glass as a peak window if you wanted to see your keyboard.

I think i get what you are saying Heliosurge. I also remember many times you have pointed out that other hmd’s can be adapted to using the SteamVR tracking system with dongles. That’s great.
The Cyclops that does sound interesting. If i could afford it like some others i would have a museum of VR hmd’s i would buy every one it’s such a cool invention. If the World goes on and i’m lucky to live long enough the future of VR will be amazing! Keep up the good work. This forum is the best. If it hadn’t come back online i think myself and i got a feeling many others would have been done with Pimax. I hope they( Pimax) understand the value of this forum for there continues survival, visiting reddit during the down time was an unfortunate experience and waste of time.

I don’t agree, controllers is mosting anticipated thing for me as steamvr has no decent controllers for echo arena & it’s one of the reasons why I can’t move away from facebook (apart of nice mobile headset).

sense controllers just don’t make any sense & delay further release date, thumbstick without sense is perfect for competitive playing. Having index they are so awkward in terms of finger tracking that I never use it at all, just try how it should feel with something like handtracking module or Ocululs Quest hand tracking the difference is astonishing. Valve index finger tracking just a joke. It has no enough freedom of movement & works bad.

I really looking for sword controllers as they look like what I was looking for so long.

It sounds like you agree with me actually. This is what i’m saying maybe I wasn’t clear.

To me the best controllers right now and many agree with me is the oculus touch 2.0
but they are not perfect, this is why everyone adds mamut grips then they are perfect.

The index controllers most exciting feature for me was the strap to hold it to your hand.

I find the index controller very uncomfortable and that trackpad is useless, I have yet to use it for any good reason in any game. If it wasnt there the joystick could be in a better more comfortable position.

Also the grips are pointless, having a single grip analog grip gives you precise control of when you are grabbing something without mistakes

I have yet to see a single game that uses the finger traacking or grip in a non gimmicky way.

From what we have seen of the Pimax controllers it seemed like a love child of the oculus touch without and index, without the negative parts of the index.

My point is that this is the only controller they need. The version with a trackpad makes no sense to me, and seems like a wasted effort.

Im not sure what’s taking so long with these controllers as HP G2 more or less copied the touch and its all thats needed.

If they would release these controllers and sell a final kit with 8kx and 8k+ then I dont think G2 would stand a chance.

But as it is they seem to want to make everything under the sun before any single product is complete

After use since 2011 Vr Headset I Lookeed This G2 !
And other your 8kX !
Tyriel Wood :
What’s I look in a G2 Me too I’m Ā« IN THƉ GAME Ā»

Tyriel Explain too :

-the design of the inclined slabs of the pimax may be due to this effect of non-immersion of the 8kx despite its slab resulting from the Xtal 4k helmet!
To manage inclined slabs @Xtal and @Varjo use very high technology to achieve this ($ 8000)!
For him and seb from @Mrtv pimax is not there yet!

To end with the words of the boss of oculus at the last 2 @Oculus Connect conference of his last 2 years when journalists told him about the vr headsets a great prototype fov that are the @Oculus Dome 1/2/3/4/5 / 6 !!
They replied:
They currently cost between $ 1500/3000 each

-The cheap general public helmet, fov 140, eyetracking, very high PPI, it is not before 2023 !!!
As we say in France:
Mass is said, Amen.

I personally like a mix of a real trackpad(not tge index after thought) and joysticks. Pimax as I have said should make both in both flavors. I suspect pimax may use vrg0 Etee tech in there sense controller. The Etee itself not having an buttons thus far seems to be quite interesting so far with the Updates. I am looking forward to receiving it(likely ahead if pimax controllers if I don’t refund them)

Awesome to see you Crony it has been quite sometime!

Overall, I’m quite happy with my Index controllers. Have you tried them?

Y’all talk about variety of headsets, this and that.

The most important thing in my opinion is that they auto-calibrate distortion profiles per headset after assembly.

It certainly is why user A has a good experience, while user B yells out ā€œwhat is this messā€.

This is overlooked way too much and should be the most important topic here. It’s absolutely essential given there are any manufacturing tolerances, which there are. The other headset makers like Valve do that. They got the machinery for that.

I came to this topic to read to rightfull complaints, and as always, as in every thread literally everything skews from the topic. Nobody asked if you are happy with your index controllers, nobody cares that ā€œall small companies pushing tech have similar growing painsā€ and everything else. This is about Pimax and how terrible they treat the people. I don’t care if you had an awesome experience. Make your own thread and share your toxicity there.

What is Aplushhhsss?

haha, I actually found a reason for index trackpad - my lef stick died & it doesn’t work up/down only left right, so I use trackpad, also recently they fixed finally scrolling with trackpad in desktop mod in steamvr & it’s useful now, I like to rest my thumb on the pad, I 3d printed grip booster to make it more comfortable & it works, but sense grip kills it for sport & some other competitive games.

I also fan of thumbstick, however trackpads also nice, I didn’t like it but bought 2 og HTC wands & I might admit for some kind of activities they ok, I switch controllers between index & those when batteries die

I absolutly agree with you.
which heatsets are available from Pimax? 5k+, 8k, 5k XR, 5K Super, Artisan, 8K+, 8KX. Have I forgotten one?
They also develop controllers. If you are such a small company, why not concentrate on two headsets and develop them to the end, without crumbling housings, faulty cables and deadlines that can’t be met.
