Why Lolof1 cancelled his 8KX order and went for the G2

I did a fun experiment, I put my laptop with above video SDE comparison as I have 5k+ & og vive from that video & step back to the distance where SDE looks similar to the what I perceive in my real HMDs so I used that reference to compare other HMDs lol. Hope it looks same irl as in my test.

Hmm, I agree, I also can’t find a logic in the file, it does look quite random.

Sorry about that Lolof1.:hushed:

The only reason I would think of is if it was a race to see who confirmed their address first.

but seeing as I literally received my eye tracking last week and paid the duties I would think my address was confirmed enough.

Either way I was sent emails to confirm and I updated on the site several times.

you can see my entry on the bottom of that list. hope you guys are adding to the list as well, even if its under anonymous names,

I’m glad the community is tracking this so that the truth is visible.

Because the product already exists, yes, and they just need to scale up manufacturing. The difference with Pimax is they did in fact have the product ready to manufacture, but ran into enough manufacturing delays to justify developing better technology more worthy of being manufactured at the time it was actually going to happen.

Subtle distinction maybe, but my own personal hardware design projects may well make me one of a few, if not the most, bitterly familiar with that point of diminishing returns. It can be exhausting to reach. Every alternative path must be considered at every step, and like running a marathon, every next step is more painful than the last.

And after all that, customers often don’t have the patience for that point of diminishing returns.

My strong suspicion is that Pimax is the only VR headset company even bothering to try to reach the point of diminishing returns.

G2 better clarity compared to 8K X is a false statement of MRTV

Can I ask why you say MRTV made a false statement on the clarity?

Yes it’s easy to overlook that point

Fabrizio doesn’t care about facts or evidence. He just hates MRTV for some reason and is a Pimax diehard.

Valve certainly didn’t with those thumbsticks.

Speaking of thumbsticks the world was a very different place when we were all debating joystick vs trackpad . I think it is a mistake today to even bother wasting precious resources developing the nonsense controllers.
The reverb g2 has it right. Adopt the sticks and A & B buttons and call it a day.

Trackpads were a naive attempt at vr control when valve thought that roomscale was the only way to go. Locomotion wasn’t even a consideration with those things.

I cannot use trackpads to move with out sloppily moving all over the place in unintended directions. Causing motion sickness.

Does anyone agree that pimax should stop trying to release so many things and focus up on making a G2 Killer.

I’m really looking forward to some through the lens G2 v 8KX comparisons

What are facts and evidence you are speaking of .

Just watch MRTV videos of 8K X until CES 2020

BUT

@NextGenVR 8K X numbers speak for themselves

There are some people who have been to his studio and have confirmed that his 8k + is badly tuned and does not match the real thing.

Some assume that his X is no different, since he had a little dispute with pimax

BTW, he made over 50 !!! (2x26 + 3) videos only about the g2. Clearly, no marketing. :joy:

Tyrell Wood says the G2 is the clear winner right now. But not far from the G1.
I had the G1 and the 8k + wins in my eyes. Apart from the higher native resolution of the G1. that is of course better.
Now watch the TTL video between the G1 and the 8kx.

Are you talking about controllers? In my opinion they already have the HMD to do that it’s called the 8kX.

FWIW, I was able to learn to use the trackpads in competitive multiplayer, without even adding a tactile dot to the center. The learning curve is indeed high though. Also the grips only work about 99% of the time at best, which made them too slow and unreliable to switch to other things in a hurry…

I don’t. Pimax might have too many SKUs on the marketing side, but on the development/manufacturing side, once the necessary technology is amassed, there is little cost to selling a bunch of different varieties these days. Automatic PCB fab, automatic pick-and-place, a good parts library, well written assembly manuals… I imagine Pimax has nice modular development/manufacturing resources by now.

Scuba masks, AFAIK, are not ‘adjustable’ to fit different users - they are just offered in every shape and size, and customers try them on for a good fit. I suspect VR headsets may end up doing something similar, even to the point of using scuba masks as some kind of de-facto standard. (ie. try on these masks buy this VR headset if that scuba mask fit)

They need an artisan+ with basically same resolution screens as the G2 but 130-140 fov and 120hz refresh rates
Just do the 8kx and artisan 2

What’s the cost of the Artisan? If they want to compete with price, may be something to think about. I would consider buying G2 if i was new to VR . So yeah is one headset really enough? I will definitely be buying the first HMD that has 220 fov if ever for consumers. For the budget conscious masses G2 and for more invested Valve Index obviously will when with gamers new to VR and some enthusiast. MRTV wasn’t wrong maybe for choosing G2 and Index, he needs more subscribers to his channel for success.

I’ll just try to get the most out of my Pimax 8kX it suits my personal needs for now. :slightly_smiling_face:

I think your claim is premature as you have neither headset to compare to one another. Until you do only those whom have experienced both headsets are in a position to compare don’t you think?

yeah im talking about the controllers

yes but i feel that the nonsense is delaying the development and production of the sensible controllers.

there’s only so much production lines and plastic in the world.
