Hi Heliosurge, I happened to notice someone on the reddit forum also made the assumption that the 8k was sold out. I think the way that the Kickstarter page is formatted as the 8k looks very similar to what the sold out section looks like, I think they need to add a backer button or still available for kickstarter purchase to make it clear, who knows how many have looked at the page and said oh it appears sold out. Its possible they could be loosing potential backers, please pass this on to the appropriate people if you agree.

It’s very simple, everything from the top is available, everything from the bottom is sold.
First collumn name “Support this project”, second “All gone!”.
Thanks, yes I know this, I was an early bird backer for the HMD only 8kX model only 50 of us. I’m just pointing out that some people may not scroll down the page for whatever reason, unlike myself searching for every little detail. Since two people have already made the mistake of thinking they were sold out its safe to assume there might be others.

Hi. Thank you for explaining to me, it makes sense now. I was unaware on Kickstarter you can click on the name of the product/s, eg. First 8K Ever, and from this is takes you to a new page where you can pledge. I misunderstood, incorrectly thinkin that the only headsets left are those in red that say ‘12 left’ etc!
Much clearer now and more importantly, good news that the stretch goals of 2.5m and maybe more can be reached.

Hey, I did a bigger mistake than that. I was number 40 something to purchase, but instead of grabbing an ‘Early Bird’, pledged on the ‘limited’ version, thinking this was a ‘Limited Edition’ and better headset with some better parts on it, so that’s why it was 50 dollars more. By the time I realised my error, all the Early Bird 8K X’s were gone, so I ended up paying 50 bucks more for nothing.

Navi_8K man thats kind of a bummer but yeah I could see that happening. Thankfully for you it was only 50 bucks. With the over $200 dollars worth of free stretch goal items atleast that will partly make up for it. Sometimes these silly errors make for some funny stories thanks for sharing.

If you keep an eye opened, sometimes backer back down or change their pledges then more of the early birds become available… thats how I got my early bird spot… one early bird opening just appeared one day!

Both this and your earlier post show that you might be newish to backing Kickstarter… I think the first few times can be a bit confusing getting used to how things work… Kickstarter is a bit of a kludgy interface and sometimes creators can also contribute to making things seem a bit more confusing…
Things like ‘Early Bird’ tend to be used a lot where they are usually limited in number, usually due to bigger discounts and intended for the earliest and first wave of backers…
In the instance you purchased the limited edition first, I’m not sure if you were aware , but at the time you could have still changed your pledge from the one you selected if the early birds were still available.

I don’t need any base stations I have two that’s plenty.
Better yet how about a coupon for the module of your choice after they are being sold on the Pimax website that way people can choose what they want.

I’d like to see 3 things that would eliminate the advantage that the Vive still has over the Pimax.
-link box with bluetooth to turn the base stations on and off remotely.
-longer cable
-Front facing camera integration or as an add-on.
A couple of VR covers thrown in for free.
Maybe work with vrcover.com to get them manufactured for you.
