VoodooDE VR - english version

It’s not nonsense to claim that eye distance changes the Fov. That’s a fact. But it is nonsense to present pictures like Voodoo did, based on some personal experience where all kinds of factors are different between setups. Put really thick foam on the Pimax 5k, remove all foam on the Vive and suddenly the Fov’s are almost the same. What good would that do anybody? It’s just in no way a fair comparison.

Here it is

Easy reference

Here is the article

Read my previous post please

Now that’s a stretch. Next you’ll be claiming an original viewmaster mixed with a hallucinogen provides better game play than a vive. (Alright if it’s good stuff one might see just that) :innocent::wink::joy:

Post ahead if time before i do the work. :beers::joy::+1::sparkles::cookie:

The horizontal Fov is almost 55% bigger on the pimax 5k (normal mode) compared to the Vive. You can change that of course with bigger foam, closing or opening your eyes, taping a part of the lens etc. I really don’t see how you could take anyone serious presenting video’s based on that. The only honest thing to do would be to show a pic with about 55% more horizontal FoV.

Something like:

It’s as they a reference.

Now if steamvr’s screencapture works. Might be able to post Vive pro screenshot vs pimax screenshot(if this works now)

I do

Did you notice that on AC the screen shot is from the desktop screen, and it is not the correct aspect
ratio, its kinda fish eye, so that would explain why the Vive box looks smaller.

I’m just perplexed by the animosity you’re portraying towards Voodoo in this thread. The guy was kind enough to give you a review in English and you lash out because you disagree? Look, it is what it is. The Pimax will have a better FOV than anything else, and no matter how you slice it don’t expect perfection from the headset or people trying to help you to gain a perspective of what it’s like. Personally I don’t speak German, so I have been hoping he would give his views for us in English at some point. As most of the world views our “entitled” culture in America, I wouldn’t blame him if he said this would be the last time. Be appreciative and supportive, and I don’t mean supportive like a jock strap!

I do agree there is a bit of a miss in the simulated photo as I am sure in both headsets you should see the hands in his pic.

Sj often has Animosity to most folks. Tho he seems to have a sweet spot for Seb(probably due to Seb’s own interesting nature)

Yes. Like said, how would you react if he had portrayed the Fov of the pimax and Vive as the same? That’s the same exaggeration of the difference, just like he did now. It’s better not to make a video at all then. Much better.

I would react with some skepticism and class.

You’re a good man then! But did you see how the people here react to Pumcy when he said some stuff about Pimax that they didnt agree with? His review was 1000x better than what Voodoo just did. And everybody pissed at him. So that does seem a little bit hypocritical to me.

Well there reactions had to do with not having sense to understand a procedural evaluation opposed to write anything you want. If the software was ready & performing correctly it would have scored 3.5-4.

I’m sure you know many folks like I do that buy new hardware with the idea of just pick up & play. Back in the days of DOS we all dug deep & had to know how to run a :computer:; freeing up base memory & fiddling with game settings. Lol

I look at it this way. If the HMD is disappointing, I have no one to blame but myself. I bought my pledge on eBay for $1800 and I’m in the low 200’s. It’s not Pimax’ fault or any reviewer for that matter. I’m just glad VoodooDE decided to help out us Americans whether I agree or not and look forward to more content from him.

Except that he didnt. He made you guys believe the horizontally Fov is twice that of the Fov. That’s almost a 100% exaggeration since its 54.5% difference. By that same reasoning he could have told you that the Vive Fov is the same as the pimax fov. How does all that help you in any way exactly?

When I watched this I thought it was BS because I see a lot more of the cockpit in my Vive in ED but then j thought why would voodoo lie? Like the others he’s been excellent.

I suspect it’s either because he wears the foam differently or because perhaps (more likely) it’s actually quite difficult to do a proper comparison and so he’s trying to give us the best possible taster. I don’t expect the vertical to be improved that much but I do expect the overall impact to be as large as he suggests.

Thanks VoodooDe

I think you’re missing the point. It’s the effort that I appreciate from him whether I disagree or not. I’ve seen Seb and Swe reviews and love those guys as well. The great thing is I can take all of the knowledge I’ve gained from all and come to my own conclusions without bashing the guy from what he feels is an honest perspective. Point being his following on you tube is huge and I’m just supportive of his efforts that he gave a flying Shi* about us here in the US to make a video.
