To be fair, they’re not entirely wrong when the only headset which even uses them is an enterprise targeted model with consumers absolutely not in mind. If there was something that was specifically consumer focused and not stupid expensive with more people grabbing it, maybe they would feel more receptive to the idea.

People did buy the VR-3 for gaming purposes, but it absolutely was not made with that in mind or marketed as such.

Not likely any time soon

It looks pretty amazing, very tempting. Over to you Pimax…

Thanks man, Im here  Not so often active though. Gonna try to change that though.

I did watch the event and also a few reviews. I like the fact that Varjo enters the consumer market (at least for enthusiasts). Seems to be a good product overall with great clarity, even if it didnt really impress on me in Tyriel Wood’s through-the-lens comparison with G2. Loads of CA and surprisingly less sharp than G2, but who am I to judge, since TTL shots are not always representing the real view.

The fact that would keep me from going for it is the reported (by youtubers) vertical fov of around 75 degrees. Sounds a bit low to me.

But hey, the main reason is that I simply cannot afford to throw 2400 Eur on a headset these days

Yeah that video was really really badly done. The Varjo is just so much sharper than anything else out there but when you go by his video, it seems that the G2 is even sharper.

Good to see you’re back btw!

Honestly I’d prefer them to leave Skyrim and Fallout alone. The modding community has turned both games into amazing VR experiences I’d hate for Bethesda to come in with a patch and break everything lol

The problem seems to be that the image shows a lot of Chromatic aberration. It was very distracting. I am surprised he even posted that video

The Reverb G2 looked sharper than the Varjo in that through the lens footage Tyriel made. I think with Varjo, you need to record vertically with a phone to get the sharpest image quality due to the lens design.

Probably he felt that a lot of work was already put into the video and he wanted to have at least something out on review day.

Kind of harsh. He’s a good guy. If he can afford a Varjo, more power to him.

Careful, your starting to sound like Sweviver😭

I’m sure Pimax will send you a review unit of whatever they’re cooking up next.

The black levels looked worse than everything, but we know that can’t be true. I think he rushed it, then again he’s had the unit for 3 weeks.

Thing that makes me a bit peeved is that according to Cas & Chary’s review the eytracking and foveated rendering actually works.

Pimax has eye tracking and I cant even remember one person saying it works at all.

Maybe I’ll give it another try.

What do you think Pimaxes chances are of delivering on what they call VR 3.0 now that the AERO is a thing?

Everything that everyone is speculating/hoping for the Aero has except for wireless and FOV.

Will Pimax pull a rabbit out of a hat here?

Just remember Upload are heavly backed by Oculus and seem to talk down anything that competes with Quest

What? They didn’t want to send you a review unit? :scream:

So much for Valve being “fair and open”. I’ve been saying it for years. You cant really call OpenVR it “Open” when the people who own it and have sole control over what is supported or not is also making their own competing products.

People for years getting mad at oculus for having a “walled garden”(at least they’re up front about it) praising Valve as if they are Saints.

If OpenVr was so Open why not accept a PR for Canted Display support at driver level, or allow Pimax to make a controller with mire than 1 button?

If OpenVR was so “Open” why do we need OpenXR? hmmm?

Imagine Valve refusing to add supoort for focus displays even if Varjo literally put the code in them selves for it, just because they dont want to. Meanwhike if Valve Index 2 has a focus dusplay you bet the support will be in there then.

Haha a Pimax user complaining about distortion…lol. Lets sit back and appreciate the Irony of this statement.

Lets not forget that $1000 per year upkeep cost. Id drop that turkey really quick

Heres the thing, If Pimax said “yes” would you believe them?

We’ve been here before.

Pimax calls audibles all the time with their product offerings. For all we know they see the AERO and as we speak are scampering to adjust their powerpoint slides to say we have 5K per eye displays with Mini LED lighting too.

We’d end up just waiting a long time and then end up. Years later with holding our buttonless controllers.

Speaking of through the lense , I think this guy nailed it . That looks like a closer true to life through the lense comparison. Tyrell really messed his ttl video up and it looked worse than the G2 lol which is obviously not the case

Minute 14:55 is where he shows TTL pictures :slightly_smiling_face:

Ah and he is speaking of new worldwide supplies of new mini LED screens for VR, this means we will get a new 8k X in approximately February/March I think
…with much brighter and better color screens :slightly_smiling_face:

True, but other reviews also mentioned it as being a major issue such as roadtovr and vr focus.
