Yes exactly, like fluffy powder pillow stars instead of sharp dots.
Yes, the skybox is very blurry on my Index also
Maybe it’s tied to PP. Index uses PP as well.
No idea honestly. Quite frustrating, I was looking forward to this game
Just tried the game out (Steam version), played a bit through the first mission. Buggy in VR, but once I got past that and into gameplay, it was great - lots of detail, great lighting, smooth experience, fun dogfighting. This is with a GTX 1080ti, Pitool set to 90hz (I read online that you get frame drops if you go beyond 90 in VR or beyond 60 in 2D), Large FOV, Parallel Projections and 1.0 render quality, nothing else. Game VR and Graphics set to Ultra. Note, I’m not using any sort of frame counter, but it feels smooth to me.
Did you have blurry stars as well?
I didn’t look at stars, so dunno. Nothing looked obviously wrong once I set the game to windowed
Edit: totally forgot to mention, this is on an 8K+ (I guess it’s in my tag though)
Hey @Dreamwriter
I have a 3080 and cannot run the game like this. That’s incredible.
Can you please give us screenshots of your ingame settings:
Screen settings (is if fullscreen, windowed, etc?)
Monitor video settings (quality, shadows, etc?)
VR video settings (quality, shadows, etc?)
Of your SteamVR settings:
Supersampling pixel amount, motion smoothing on/off, PP on off ?
Are you on the latest Nvidia driver 456.55 , or an older one?
That would be incredible helpful so we can maybe find out what we do differently.
You should play with settings , there is sharpness slider in game gfx options , move to 80 or 90 % , super sharp with TAA and fps are very playable on my rtx 2080ti with 5k+ ( PT 1.25, steam vr 120 % res 3800x3604) So far I like this game a lot . I have only issue with Virpil throttle - its not recognized in game and I can only bind WarBRD base with Alpha grip
what is your driver Piotr, please look it up @Yata_PL
You mean nvidia driver ? I have 456.38. Are you you using project lasso app ?
Thank you.
My buddy Meka, who also flies IL-2 like us, has also 456.38. I’ll downgrade and try that.
did you notice something between this drivers, new vs old
If anyone here figured out how to make virpil throttle ( or any hotas with 2 separate usb connection) visible in game binding menu please share with me.
You need to adjust Device# to have them as 1 2 and 3.
And if you have more than 3 devices, get Joystick Gremlin, install VJoy1 (virtual joystick), make it 1, and forward axis and buttons of the devices that are hidden to VJoy1.
For IL-2 you’ll have to remap the device list, there is a file only containing these. Best to google it. Then you don’t need to re-set all your controls in IL-2 (because it goes by device number as well, not by hardware ID)
Do you have “maxRecommendedResolution” : 8192, or at “maxRecommendedResolution” : 16384,
?
Motion Smoothing active or not ?
Do you start the game through PiTool or through Steam?
Sorry I do not know what project lasso app is
@Yata_PL you are a hero in some regard.
Guys, for SW Squadrons, use Nvidia driver 456.38
Set up before starting SWS:
Start PiTool and Pimax headset, PP=On, RQ=1, Normal or Small FOV, SteamVR SS variable.
Algorithm to start SWS:
PiTool active, SteamVR off.
Start SWS in Flatscreen mode. Check Task Manager - it will compile shaders for a while upon each start!!! Your CPU will be at 100%. Do not move away from the main menu during that time, just wait until CPU use drops to normal levels. It might take some minutes.
Then start SteamVR. Go back to SWS, in there to Options -> VR Settings -> Toggle VR. VR will now start, it can be turnt on or off during gaming.
Enjoy good Framerates. Everything is on Ultra now for me as well.
@JoCool It’s normal that it works fine. Steam in variable will decrease the resolution of the headset ^^.
thanx for joystick YT guide. I missed devices # tab.
Edit: But my throttle is still not on the device list I can choose only gametrix pad ( which have nothing to do with control) and WarBRD base with Alpha. Somehow windows see my throttle but game don’t.
The CPU usage thing happens while loading before the main menu, just checked while trying to boot in in flat screen. Once I’m in the main menu the CPU usage goes down. Also, the stuttering is worse on my monitor, probably because of the monitor framerate being higher.
**just realized I’m using a different driver (the “Squadrons” specific one, go figure)…maybe I’ll use the old one.
