Hi according to EricForPresident and @vrgamerdude
you should be able to pair both knuckles to the Vive if you have one
I wonder if that would work here?

Might be worth while to get a defunct og vive to harvest the watchman’s and Bluetooth.
am i correct in assuming that the Vive must have two?
because everywhere i look it seems that you need one per controller?
Yes. Even Oculus uses a proprietary set of watchman dongles as well.
If you have the og vive check it out in steamvr menu. Shows 2 watchman dongles
I know what I’ll be doing tonight

Hi guys, i just have ordered a pair of Index Controllers, and now i read here that they won’t work without a dongle? Is this problem solved or still excisting. I also can’t find any dongles anywhere.
Hope you can help me out, thanks in advance.
I think you’ll be fine. I had tracking loss randomly on my 5k with one of the controllers until I got a dongle, but it still works fine, just very frustrating to use. You will probably not have the issue, so I’d wait until you try them out before buying anything
I never had this problem with neither 5K+ nor 8KX and my Index Controllers.
Indeed, i can confirm they are working just fine

So, is there a good seller to buy the dongles from? Seems it’s the only way to fix the problem. I tried to pair controllers through my Vive, but it’s impossible to run Pimax and Vive at the same time.
unfortunately the issue is never gone totally, while tracking is perfect on the controller binded to the steam dongle, the other one binded to pimax randomly lose tracking, i can try restarting pc several times and hopefully after various attempts i can play 1h of beat saber without problems, but most of the times i have tracking issues.
Already tried all possible combinations of usb/hubs/ports and the best i can get is the situation above.
Tracking is now PERFECT!!..
with another steam dongle!!
just don’t use pimax headset for index controllers, even just one, at least for my batch (and no, i don’t know wich batch i own, it’s a 5k+, the one with cracked plastic from apr 2019)
mostly false. I have no dongle and i play every day without issue.
I have a palr of dongles on the way, so hopfully they stop the jitters and bring calm back to my visual field.
Yes, i can confirm, no problems with the 5k+
you probably have another batch ?
or you just don’t play beast saber that is where the issues appears more fequently, it may be that you do not even realize it if you use it normally.
it may be also due to a particular usb/motherboard chipset combination, it’s a gamble basically as anyone has been able yet to find the exact cause and which models are surely affected and which are not.
i only know that all of my tracking issues are gone on the left hand once i’ve started using the first steam dongle, and solved the right hand once i’ve got the second one.
probably. I know i experienced the issue last april around the time HL:Alyx came out. Left controller would disconnect for .5 sec randomly. but back then reverting to firmware 262 fixed it.
I think the problem was introduced in firmware 263 and up.
However recently on the latest firmware I haven’t had those disconnects
Not saying it doesn’t exist for anyone else though.
i have 262 and problem was there since they arrived at my home lasst summer, when i was still using 249
I’m actually about to reconnect my OG Vive to test out that new framelock feature of the SteamVR and im going to see if its possible to use the PImax with the Knuckles while they are paired through the Vive.
It works for people using WMR headsets to use knuckles so it might work for Pimax.
