So pre-order customers are getting their 8K-X in August/September?

Wait what? They built 600 units??

I’m a happy little upgrader. Can’t wait.

Keep on keeping on. :+1:

Shouldn’t need to count them as the Computer inventory system should count headsets in received from manufacturing and ones that are sold.

No, they’ve built over 200 headsets (in the first 3 batches) and will have built another 600 units by the end of July.

Preorders from November have been fairly screwed over. Remember we were told order now to be at the front of the queue for delivery in 1-2 months. Not receive it last in a year. The original promised terms have been well and truly breached.

At this stage we are essentially investors just like the original Kickstarter backers. But we have been given no extra benefit for our altered status. I’ve been very patient. I understand the want to reward original backers but to do it at the expense of preorder upgraders, in a way which will make you perform even worse on a promise you’ve already massively broken, seems a bit off.

Actually no, you can cancel your preorder anytime and get your money back. Backers waited 3 years for a product that no one knew existed and hadn’t been invented yet and took the risk of Pimax going bankrupt and shipping absolutely nothing with no way to refund the entire payment.

I understand that very much so. Your risk was high as a kick starter and if not for Pre orders money you would still be waiting for your stuff, you know no headsets no nothing they out right lied to the pre orders. No one who pre ordered should need to wait this long!!! I ordered in OCT, Shipping very soon!! Kick starters are number 1 to fill orders, backers are still waiting for addon’s that are no were yet. So their (Pimax) are still taking pre order money !!! I’ve followed many of Pimax BS with the kick starters. Ugly honest is still dishonest. I do hope all the kick starters understand why some long time pre order people feel this way.

I can’t cancel my preorder. 6 months have gone.

A preorder is a contract of purchase. For it to remain that way one party has to fulfil their contracted agreement, which they haven’t done. Instead, by the companies own admission, they used the money to invest and develop a product. That is an investment.

Now look, i’ve been pretty cool with it and i’m not going to kick up a fuss. Pimax are Pimax and operate in a ‘unique’ way. If/when I get my headset i’ll be happy and i’ll be glad it is polished and they are pushing boundries. But they have to be careful in the future and learn lessons. I want them to succeed. They can’t just defraud people of money on false promises for actual sales as if it’s a crowdfund. And a purchase order with false terms is not a valid investment farming method. In the UK they would be in big trouble legally.

I understand backers have had a rough ride and I want Pimax to do all they can to make amends to them. I’m not saying they shouldn’t do good things for them. It doesn’t need to be that we are against each other. We are both clearly investors at this stage. Just different tiers.

It’s alright to feel angry. I don’t even have an email for my headset. I just hope at the end of all this pain and waiting is something actually worthwhile.

I am sure the pre orders of Sisense STEM felt the same way.

However it was never a secret that Backers were going to be fulfilled first. The 5k and 8k pre orders and sales after 2018 did indeed help finance the 8kX release.

The 8kX pre orders were simply taken way too soon. However it was known by December after VR Days that design issues pushed the release date back. Then it was all set to start shipping in January which of course they discovered another quality issue.

From there we know the world descended into Covid 19.

Pre orders and Backers had been notified in December 3rd update I think it was that 8kX might be delayed to March/April and might have made that target had Covid 19 had not occurred.

In fairness pre orders (and some did) could cancel their order. Backers are first in line because they backed it and that is how these headsets became a reality by taking a gamble. A pre order hasn’t risked as they can cancel and receive a refund.

I’m always impressed by your historical knowledge regarding Pimax. I’m sure you could write a book with it maybe even end up on the New York times best sellers list. Not joking. History of How a small Chinese start up took control of the VR HMD consumer market. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

@Heliosurge, Sjef and I were here during the Pimax 4K Days but they were here long before I was.

I had only heard of the Pimax 4K and watched a few video’s on you tube about it but didn’t take interest untill the Kickstarter Campaign as was an early bird on that and occasional began to visit the forum here sometime later as it was called differently not long ago.

Thank you.

I think it would definitely be a good story once pimax has all things in place and flowing efficiently. :beers::sunglasses::+1::sparkles:

I only took interest in the 4K cause I hated SDE, same reason I backed the X.

Unless your Superman and have X-ray vision your going to find a hard time finding any SDE, not saying it may be there in that case on a microscopic level.

I wonder what reddit thread sjefdicklick is terrorizing! Ever was he my nemesis but still a faithful contributor “All be it” negative 80% of the time ,still I would like to hear his thoughts on the X as his 20% positive insight was quite informative.

You’ll hear his thoughts, I’m sure.

I am a 8K>5K+ backer upgrade. Today I noticed they have updated my order in my account together with a eye tracking discount code ready to use.

I took interest in the 4K for the SDE and after I messed around with a phone and leap motion and kinect. I took the risk of bad optics but was pleasantly surprised by the 4K, for a very reasonable price too.
The constant addition of features and improvements to the software was what made me trust the ability of the Pimax developers to make the 8K come to be that made me back it.

They far succeeded my expectations, hard- and softwarewise. All that’s missing from them being top notch is this communication thingy and sometimes a delay.
