So pre-order customers are getting their 8K-X in August/September?

Educated guess?

30-40% of all original backers, so 2.000-3.000 upgraders.

But then again, most Pimax backers are extreme power users so that share might be higher.

I am the pre-order and trying to get how many peoples in front of me in the line.

backer 400
upgrader ~2500
pre-order ~2000

Correct?

Since the folks who preoredered now have to wait until after the delivery of at least 500 new upgrades, upgrades made after my preorder, I’m also extremely interested to know how many upgraders there are. This hasn’t really been mentioned or touched upon.

I’d be really shocked if there was 2500 upgraders. I would have guessed maybe 250 upgraders based off nothing but interest and the fact that you have to be a backer to upgrade

I think 250 is low, but I agree: 2500 seems too high. I’d guess between 500 and 1000, which is a month or so of production, once the assembly line gets up to full speed.

Upgrades to 8KX is not such a huge number. After all, its just a portion of the backers. I suspect its around maybe 700-1000, or even less. The number of pre-orders is constantly growing though.

I’m a 8k->5k+ backer 4xx and I did early pre-order becouse dont want to loose stretch goals.
Now I’m wonder where I belong ?

Around 400 backers, maybe 500-1000 upgrades (Im not informed about these numbers yet) and then comes pre-orders. I suspect somewhere in August, as we are about to have 600+ units already done in July.

May I ask what you base your estimate on then?

We had a number of roughly 500 upgrades not so long ago, which was discussed internally.

I see.

Up front I want to say I understand when Pimax needs to keep some details hidden for business reasons over the wishes of backers, like yield numbers or packages sent out.

But is that the case? Do the actual numbers stay secret for such a reason or are you willing to provide everyone with projected numbers when they are available so we can all make an educated guess when ours is due?

I don’t think we have kept any numbers hidden at all, theres really no point doing so either. But we dont get updated about new numbers every day or week either, as both me and Kevin have loads of other things that are more important to deal with, than counting sold headsets

For instance, Im currently trying to understand the new way of communication between PiTool and VR Experience that I need to implement into the Unity project. I gotta admit my “free” Saturday is way more fun spending on coding than anything else heh…

Thank you for the update Martin. I actually paused the Pimax day event to upgrade the moment you and Kevin announced it was available. :0) feels close now. Can’t wait. :0)

600+ done? that means all original backers of 8kx are all finished and moving onto upgrades?

Have you not noticed people reeeeaaaaallly like to hear about these numbers? I doubt you’d have to count them yourself, just communicate them to us

backer 400
upgrader 500-1000
pre-order ~2000

I didn’t expect up to 1000 upgraders. For pre-orders it means 1 or maybe 2 months delay. Seems I will get my 8KX at the end of September .

It seems to be a common mistake in non-native English speakers that they use “already” in the future tense. He means they will have 600 done by end of July, not already.

Yeah I guess, few days ago was at 70 and now nearly 600 done, I thought woa that sure ramp up fast :rofl:

600 done end of july is probably what he meant.
