So pre-order customers are getting their 8K-X in August/September?

I wouldn’t say I have the best experience with Pimax, they shipped me the wrong Pimax 4K after all.

I had some issues but in the end I had a working model and am very content with it.

Could you share the pre-order numbers? Just out of curiosity, mostly curious to see how many over time and rate of change. Like did the event cause many more 8kx pre-orders? Or did it kind of maintain a steady increase. I know you prob can’t share it that detailed, but just whatever you can share, just to satisfy curiosity.

early pre-orders can’t cancel, its beyond the paypal 6 month refund window.

You become the refound direct.
No gods, money back…

On what website, they have pimax.com and pimaxvr.com ?

If no one knew it existed, what exactly were you backing lol?

Correction: Early pre-orders can’t file a PayPal dispute to try and get their money back if Pimax refuses to refund the money.

I think knowing Pimax, they would probably ignore refund request tickets for as long as possible.

SweViver, I know it’s been said many times before, but I just have to say thank you for your fine work on VR Experience. What is now a pleasant experience will become a pleasurable experience. If you don’t know what I mean, the second one is way better than the first. I’m impressed. I’m proud of you.

We are so close to receiving the 8kx, and waited this long, and we want to talk about refund? This is gold

I don’t think any one of us wants to refund. But we were trying to make a point with Generic that early pre-orders are almost in the same position as backers. Also the longer the wait, the more invested we are naturally. No one wants to lose their pre-order spot.

Who said you needed to cancel through Paypal? Some have cancelled through pimax just with delays at times getting it processed.

Some cancelled after the 6 months mark.

I think I’m with you on this. The backers went into this knowing that there was a gamble. The preorderers paid more for the promise that they’d receive their equipment in a couple of months. The preorderers weren’t gambling and weren’t told that their place in the que would be pushed further back by a new upgrade. And even though these are the undeniable facts, preorderers have been given no compensation for these offenses.
For generic to say you can get your money back is also offensive. Generic, you apparently believe preorderers have nothing to complain about simply because your complaint is greater. As I’ve already said, as a backer, you knew the risks when you got involved. The folks who preordered were simply misled and also deserve some consideration from Pimax.

Not sure if I can agree on that, if you mean preorders are almost like the 8kx backers. 8kx backers paid good money in 2017 for something that was just a vr dream, the risk of it never materialize is far greater than pre order at end of 2019 when 5k+ 8k are already real products and 8kx is based upon them.

I too want to receive 8kx asap but it will only be fair those backers get first dips, and then upgraders since those are backers who contribute early through this journey. Only fault pimax has is the uncontrollable circumstances of covid19 and taken preorder money too early.

But seriously we are only taking about 400 units of backers and maybe 500 units of upgraders, its not like its going to take forever to get to preorders.

I remember at 5k+ 8k days the production was ramped up to like 250 units a day. And those 4000 5000 units were fulfilled really fast.

Well said. Pimax didn’t say, “We’ll use your money to finish development. We’re not sure when that development will end.” They said, “Our manufacturing is beginning soon, preorder now, and we’ll ship your HMD to you in late December or early January.”

We preorderers support you backers. Can’t you backers also support the preorderers in our effort not to be screwed?

Heliosurge, as a preorderer, the only thing I’ve ever been notified about by Pimax was that my order was received. My presence on this forum is only as the result of my digging and investigating. Before joining this forum, I never heard about any updates, and Pimax never responded to any of my emails or my attempts early on to join a supposed newsletter.

The delays are understandable, but that’s not what the preorderers were promised. My main complaint is that an upgrade to 8KX offered only to backers and not offered before my money was taken will be fulfilled before I get what I was told I’d receive no later than January. The least Pimax should do is to also offer to me the eye tracking module at the backers’ price.

Yes, it’s only fair for those who pre-ordered more than 6 months ago to receive a discount on the eye tracking. That would make up for how Pimax greatly misled us. Let’s be honest, kickstarters knew the risks of what they were going into. People like myself truly believed our 8K-Xs would ship in December/January like they claimed. It was clearly a lie and they knew that they were nowhere close to production. But because they needed our pre-order money to produce the headsets, now that money has already been spent. We are kickstarters with no benefits.

Backers and upgraders are also delayed same like pre orders tho, and even earlier delivery dates. Should we be getting another discount? I mean why not I like it🙂 but I am doubtful that will happen.

Hopefully production ramps up and this will just be slight delay. We are not talking about huge amount of units here.

The communication has been a long time problem. The same with following the so-to-speak que. Backer’s were supposed to be fulfilled in 2018 before pre orders. Well history showed Pre orders started to receive ahead of most backers. So consider the pre orders whom have been waiting on Pimax controllers, bought paid Handtracking or the free MAS for ordering. So MAS in theory should be fulfilled to backers and first round of pre orders.

As has already demonstrated an X Backer who also has a Backer upgrade has received tracking for his other headset. I wouldn’t be too concerned as it is already not following the order of shipping that was laid out.

Backers were told many things and many things have not been honored as laid out. Many backed after pimax committed themselves to making 2 versions of Sense controllers. Which was also kept this premise in 2018 when pre order deposits were taken.

Sure I can sympathize with your position with them taking pre orders when they did. However most companies do not tell you in which order they ship things out.

@NextGenVR as well.
If they didn’t find a problem just after or before CES finished. Shipping would have started prior to CNY and likely backers and pre orders would have been fulfilled. But we know generally the details of what happened.

To be perfectly honest with the financial issues that resulted due to the pandemic; I am surprised many more didn’t cancel their pre orders.

Considering many were offered silicon sleeves for cracks. They may offer a coupon(maybe $50 off). Or you might receive 2 pieces of content. However I don’t think they should give Backer deals as compensation; especially since the eyetracking was orginally a free stretch goal.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. Pimax by late Jan to Early Feb already stated they were going to aim for an April Launch. Y’all had more than enough time to decide this was going to take a long time that is well within the 6 months refund period.

I was even kind enough to tell you guys what would happen ‘Not accounting for the Corona Virus’. So don’t tell me you all got no heads up.

I’ve also never heard of a company ever compensating people for pre-orders. You think CD Projekt Red compensates me delaying Cyberpunk 2077 for how many months now?
