The only reason Pimax opened pre-orders so early is to hold us semi hostage. In the sense that we’re told repeatedly the X is just around the corner and we don’t want to lose our spot in the queue.

That’s just the reality of a physical product vs something like preordering a game through digital distribution. Stuff is actually being produced physically so there is limited stock at any time.

Until the day DMAS production is on par with the 8KX headsets, the DMAS straps might be shipped seperately after you got your headset. Eventualy, once all is synced and production is rolling full throttle (hopefully September and onwards), then we can start to send these together.

Sweviver, why did you say at the Pimax Now event that those who ordered 8K-X with DMAS will have to wait longer to receive their X? You said it would be a month longer.
To get the DMAS yes, not the 8KX+SMAS.
All 8kX backers gets the SMAS now, and those who paid extra for DMAS gets DMAS (only the speakers, to replace the SMAS speakers) once it starts shipping, approx one month later.

I pre-ordered the 8K-X Standard version in November of last year. If I upgrade now to the deluxe version. You are saying I would still receive the 8K-X with the SMAS without any delays. And then once the DMAS production is ready, I will receive the DMAS speakers at a later date?
Is this what Kevin and the Pimax team told you?

Yes, all 8KX includes the SMAS. When you upgrade to DMAS, you get the DMAS speakers alone, which you can put on your MAS instead of the DMAS speakers.
This is at least for now until we might change the package one day where you directly can get it with DMAS and no SMAS speakers. But that will come once DMAS production have catched up. completely and all current backers/orders are fulfilled.
And remember, the main main MAS strap itself is same for both SMAS and DMAS, as well as KDMAS (with the exception that KDMAS strap has 1 audio cable only, on left side.).

Thats something to get clarified on tomorrows meeting, but I assume its the same story. You get 8KX with SMAS (which it includes), and the DMAS speakers you paid for a bit later seperately. Theres no reason for a KDMAS as you opted out, and upgraded for 8K+ or 8KX

Good for you! I’m still waiting to get a working HMD, 4 faulty ones in a row and many months spent waiting for pimax support…many tickets cancelled because pimax support don’t come back to me… still chasing them now.
But happy some are managing ok.

You would think so… but no, 100% not my side.
I was backer #6 and so was one of the very first 14 in oct 2018 to get a HMD and I’ve a long history on here of all the issues with the headsets supplied. Aside from all 4 of them cracking, there were various other problems between them all. The first having the backlight bleed fault after 2 days to the last that was out of box faulty with screen fault, cable fault and cracks.
So maybe saying “in a row” is giving the wrong impression, these were supplied over a longer period of time but each had their faults either immediately or within a couple of weeks and a large portion of all this time has been spent waiting on support.

Ok, there are 400 backer, around 2000 pre-orders. How many upgraders? A dosen? 10 thousands?
