If anyone can answer this. Someone who opted for one of the plans and ordered last year in November. Am I classed as a backer, pre-order or an amalgamation of both? And where does one sit in the queue?

if you backed 8kx kickstarter you are backer,
if you are already a pimax owner and chose an upgrade plan you are an upgrader,
if you didnt own a pimax and you bought 8kx you are a pre-order purchaser.
and queue is backer -> upgrader -> pre-order

But jokes aside, 7 years is not untypical for AAA Titels… Just nobody ever knows that in general, and kick-starting from zero sure did not make it faster.
As long as they get done in the next 2 years and add VR it fine with me.
In general it should be more clear what all this pre ordering and backing really is - gambling and risk finanzing for true believers - if you are looking for a cheap buy wait until the stuff has been 2 years on the market

I’ll blow your mind because I spent 569$ backing the X. Part of the reason I backed it was they gave me a discount from the Pimax 4K BE fiasco.

I ordered my X for 1400 without a strap in January from a European shop. After 5 months the order was canceled by the dealer. Now I’ve paid 1550 euro and think, the Last in the Shipping Line. Am I not great ?!

All is fine! Had long Time fun with my 8k and now a everyday Date with the 8k+. have no excitement

So you only had to wait 3 years to save $731 on your Pimax 8K-X. Meanwhile pre-order customers like myself spent at least $1300 and have had to wait 8 months or more now with no discount offered for this excessive wait.

You have no idea what checking your emails for 3 years feels like. Even now I’m checking my emails. Also nothing. I also saved money not because I was early to the party. I bought a Pimax 4K back in the day before this kickstarter thing and it had issues.
Also Preorders don’t ever get discounts because your money is still there if you chose to cancel. Kickstarters on the other hand, if you get into a scam one or whatever your money is gone.

I think everyone forgets the literal months of discussions about ‘What is the X?’ We’ve had before the 5K+ and 8K shipped and even after it shipped.

Fair points. I just feel like those who pre-ordered in November are like a 2nd layer of backers. We helped fund the production of the 8K-X with our pre-order money.
Yes you do have option to cancel if you want, but I doubt Pimax will actually allow it.
