He repeated the same comment on another thread. To me it comes off as "I don’t give a damn about your concerns. I’m going to sarcastically say “Sure mate”

That depends on his understanding of ‘sure mate’ in English, I know when you translate that into mandarin it has none of the sarcastic tone :wink:

Btw i can understand both mandarin and English, i can tell you that sometimes non native speaker use gets the meaning wrong so massively its hilarious :laughing:

People come to this forum from all over the world. I hope you will remember that although English is the common language, there are many people for whom English is not their first language.

English speakers often use it in a crushing way, but it’s difficult for non-English speakers like me to understand.

Tolerance is everything.

@Jien1963D Well said; For someone who is a “non-English” speaker your well thought out words certainly do convey your feelings in a clear way to any English speaker regardless of level of comprehension I would say :+1:

The main problem I have is not the “Sure, mate” itself but the fact he gave the same response to two different posts of mine that needed different responses. Instead of “Don’t worry, we’ll make sure all shipments have tracking number moving forward” or “Pimax is still on track to completing orders before end of month. You won’t have to wait until Christmas” he gives the same basic response which tells me he doesn’t care at all.

Respectfully, the first does not necessarily imply the latter.

I frequently answer “OK” to my collogues’ IMs at work. That “same basic response” doesn’t mean I don’t care; it means I’ve made a note of it and will take care of it.

Because a forum is not face-to-face and English is not everyone’s primary language, misunderstandings can easily occur. Personally, I give everyone the benefit of the doubt when it comes to posts (unless the post is vulgar, hurtful, mean-spirited, etc.).

I surely can understand you’re angry @NextGenVR but in this case it’s most likely just a ‘lost in translation’ thing. I am pretty sure he didn’t mean to to offend you. The language barrier is just really a thing between mandarin and english. If we’d all start speaking Dutch, that problem would be solved :smiley:
