So pre-order customers are getting their 8K-X in August/September?

I ordered my I think the beginning of this year. Hope it is good quality and I can figure out how to set it up with clarity. I read about some blurry issues where you have to go into you command prompt to alter steam. That scares me when it comes to altering any function attached to the operating system. If it happens I would like to return it.

What is the process on returns?

It sounds way complicating to set up and with issues. Getting discouraged

You are reading about editing a Steam configuration file not an operating system file.

You will soon be able to download a beta of the Pimax Experience which does this automatically. The change does not affect Windows itself in any way.

The idea is to make the headset config and game optimization as automatic as possible.

@PimaxUSA can you confirm how people are being notified that the unit has shipped, it’s getting very annoying checking email, the store page and the fedex app just to find out if our units are finally on their way?

I will push for a regular notification email for all upgraders so they can know their exact status.

Please do this. I’m a November upgrader that had to pay a remaining amount as I had chosen the incorrect package. I paid it right away in August and all I’ve heard back is “It’s good”.

The text edit referenced is extremely trivial, and Pimax Experience software will take care of it for you like PimaxUSA says.

Also, it’s generally optional, and on some machines, apparently not even necessary. Not an operating system file either, just SteamVR, which you could uninstall, delete, and reinstall, to restore to ‘like new’ condition.

Basically, just this number is set to something high like 16384 in the file “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\config\ steamvr.vrsettings” .

This is probably just as necessary to get full resolution out of any VR headset, and higher resolution headsets actually still look better even if the rendered resolutions aren’t supersampled any more.

So, you have nothing to worry about there.

You might have to play around with PiTool Render Quality and SteamVR resolution settings a bit to get best performance, just like adjusting video quality settings with any video game.

Why couldn’t you have said that up front? Sure, we would like that number to be larger, but at least this sort of honesty helps us to push down the feelings that Pimax is doing something shady. And with this information, we can better judge we might hope to receive our gear.
Please just be honest and open. Give us all the information we need and want.

It sure sounds like you’re against preorderers. By the way, I preordered before you changed your mind and decided to upgrade. I guess you feel that even though I preordered before you upgraded, you should be served first. Well if it makes you feel better, I hope you get yours first.

The most important thing for me now is that Pimax actually TELLS us when our 8kx is shipped. My 5k+ sat outside for more than a week because I wasn’t home and nobody from Pimax told me it was even shipping. Now I wont be home for my 8kx and I really dont want to have another situation were it sits outside for an extended period of time.

Yes I have a fed ex account but I shouldn’t have to play internet detective going to multiple websites on a day to day basis just to get a simple shipping notification.

Great, if you are so confident that all our 8KX will be shipped by the end of September, then I think we should just wait quietly until the end of the month.

It will be really great if all this happens.

Pimax’s delivery times are a really tricky thing, unfortunately, so there is always a lot of doubt.
Hopefully this will change soon and there will be no more disappointments.

I am in favor of adhering to the sequence announced by Pimax, that’s all.

We have come a long way with Pimax. And for some, it has just begun.
But I would not want new customers to experience inconvenience in the timing of sending, etc., because this can negatively affect the company’s reputation, which is not good for headsets with a wide FOV.

And I’m always glad when people prefer Pimax - a headset with wide FOV and high resolution.
Wide FOV HMDs should continue to evolve and improve.
They are the future of VR, people will not be able to look into the “donut hole” forever.
We need a deeper dive with a wider FOV at a more or less adequate price, which is what Pimax gives us.

And 8KX will hopefully be their victory.
(The main thing is that we should already start receiving our headsets as soon as possible: both pre-orders and upgrades :beers:).

How about you send an email to all pre-order customers telling us where we are at in the queue and our status?

I haven’t received a single email from Pimax since the day I pre-ordered in November 2019. Not even an address confirmation email. I confirmed it anyway.
