So pre-order customers are getting their 8K-X in August/September?

I know Incheon, nice place.

Well I have no doubt that it’s way better than what little Korean I know. I used to be able to carry a simple conversation in Japanese, but I’ve forgotten so much.

@kevnhowe I ordered in April and my experience was partly like yours - although I did understand that I was pre-ordering a product that wasn’t ready to ship, I was unpleasantly surprised to be charged immediately. Had I realised that, I probably would not have gone through with the order. Almost cancelled, but managed to find this forum and was eventually reassured that I had not fallen victim to a scam.

At this stage I am just about prepared to give Pimax the benefit of the doubt and say that it was not an intentional deception on their part, and put it down to the fact that they bu hui jiang yingguo hua (they don’t speak English).

Right!?

What I’m about to say will no doubt be controversial

I think everyone gives Pimax a hard time for “letting us backers down” but if it weren’t for backers being so tough on them then we would have gotten our 8k’s in march 2018 and they would be exactly like that duct taped prototype shown on Tested.

It’s also unfair to Pimax that their rep has been dragged through the trash, as they have made many mistakes and delays towards to goal of making the ultimate hmd and continue to give backers preferential treatment and discounts.

Think about this …
All the negative press that you see from non backers are for a headset that for all intents and purposes is a development product. They haven’t even released a true commercial product yet until the (artisan) and vision series.

In 3 short years they developed the most glossy, hi-tech hmd with resolution and eye-tracking hand tracking etc that companies like oculus only “show powerpoint slides about”

it took oculus 3 variants over 4 years to develop the rift and release the commercial product and a year later to get the touch controllers out. Valve is similar.

Imagine if the vision line was all developed behind closed doors and the first anyone was hearing of it was the launch of the 8k+, artisan and 8kX in 2020 similar to how we only knew anything about the x-tal when the popped out yearly to show it.

all that negative press would not even exist. The only reason it exists is because the general media is some how getting too much info about how “badly” pimax treats us backers, and that some of us have had bad experiences or are impatient. As if we are purchasers of a commercial product and not a DK

I’m not saying it’s all false, but we’re along for the ride of the development of this product and we all accepted the risk to reap the eventual reward. And pimax’s rep was the cost.

A lot of truth in what your saying. Though for the most part I don’t see the headsets I received as Dev kits save the housings were not made well due to cracks in the black housings. The Artisan unfortunately was given the same housing on release.

Sure they had some poor components later identified as problematic like the 5k+ serial 202 panels. But otherwise it has been more of software wasn’t really ready for Joe consumer.

The p4k though I would agree with the p1 series being more a dev kit model.

What received for sure wouldn’t have been that good if not for the number of backers and honestly the delays to get what was released. I do think the inexperienced in direct manufacturing created a lot of learning curves for them to better understand and develop consistent quality.

Where as the p1:series was manufactured for them by a firm.

I agree but, compared to the vision everything prior seems like a dev kit.

more like a dk2. if rumors of the Original 5k is to be believed.

8k was unofficially discontinued the second 8k+ existed. And it turned out to be the 8k we all thought we were originally backing

During the QA sweviver said something akin to,

“after CES we saw alot of minor improvements we needed to make that caused delays , but we really wanted these vision headsets to feel perfect, not like a development kit”

which if you read between the lines means everything prior felt like a development kit. Not that they actually were. But come on deep down I know i love my 5k+ but I know it feels just a tad beneath consumer quality.

At some point you ACTUALLY have to ship a product. This isn’t Star Citizen where you can alpha build and bait people into funding your company through scummy MACROtranscations.

backer 400 (done?)
upgrader 500-1000
pre-order ~2000

Could somebody update/correct this list?

backers 383 not done, not even half done yet

Pimax told us 600 units will be done in July. So, it should be 500 units at this time. Besides 215 were already made in June. So, over 700 units should be made at this time. In reality just 200? Very bad.

yes, they already admitted that the 200 did not ship by the 6th and actually then said they should have shipped by the 21st but now aren’t saying anything

I think it’s still possible to atleast ship the remaining X’s to backers on July

I do understand Pimax 8KX is the complex device. The company is troubleshooting multiple issues, so there are delays.
But 25 days delay just to send 200 units?

Well, they’ve had to open, check for missing items, repack, and readdress all the packages at least once (and probably twice). Of course, that’s their own fault, but it still takes time. It’s clear that their shipping department has issues; I just hope that they can get back on track.

It just never ends… I’m going on vacation in two weeks. Bet you the unannounced parcel will arrive while I’m away and get sent back. I’m 99% sure.
Or I’m saved by a SPAD (Surprise Pimax Additional Delay)

I’ll likely be saved.

Pusa said they would produce thousands in August

@PimaxUSA @SweViver @PimaxQuorra

So, we are now at 25 July. We were informed that at the end of July Pimax should have produced approx. 600 + 200 from June (?) units of 8KX.

Known issues are i) the possible re-opening of packages for inclusion of the erranously omitted 2nd foam and ii) the suspension of shipment with Fedex to clarify the documentation.

Factual evidence suggests that only a pretty minor percentage of the 383 original backers have received their 8KX so far. Shipment information doesn‘t seem to reliably be provided upfront, as far as I recall from the few who reported receipt so far.

Looking at both the statements I copied in above, something does not add up here.

Can we please have a honest & accurate status update on the current production and shipment of the 8KX ?

If Pimax gave all of us us shipping information in due time we would be able to track the packages and if the issue is an extended wait at e.g. customs clearance, most of us backers would be more patient as we would know it has left Pimax premises and it is really on its way and not just a wet dream, while the majority of the produced units seemingly have been redirected to other obscure destinations.

And if you don‘t like the last assumption - where do the 800 units produced until the end of this month end up then !?

You can‘t tell us how great everything is going while hardly shipping to us at the same time - but get angry if we just connect the dots, you know. If you put yourself in our shoes I think you must recognize how ridiculous & unprofessional such behavior at times looks.

What I find outrageous is that Pimax is probably reading all of these posts recently and just choosing not to respond. Their silence speaks very loudly.

I ve always been more on the positive side when it comes to pimax but I must say the lack of any info from them just has me going to the dark side. Also the weekly updates from them say a whole lot of nothing as far as I’m concerned.
