If you really believe that after they got caught with this, it actually was the only time they’ve sold B2B, then you’re not only unethical but also extremely naive.
Pimax said from the start they were going to sell before fulfilling backers first. Then they got a sh*tstorm here on the forums and then said ‘ok we are not going to do that’ but all of a sudden they only could build very very little units and nobody understood where the finished units went. And now this news … I’m pretty sure they’ve sent out more B2B units than backer units.
You are amusing. I don’t reccommend you trying a startup especially if you make it known what you have posted here. Next to no one will support your startup.
Some part of me wish i could just preorder the 5k from amazon even if i have to wait a little longer. Any problems i could just get a replacement or get the 8k. If this is true then the koreans are lucky. Scared if my preorder hmd needs an rma that would lead to another month or 2 waiting.
The thing is i wonder why they do such strange decisions. If they would have told us beforehand and there would have been a good reason for it they could have had half the drama.
But instead they always wait to be caught red-handed. I really thought after 1 year they should have learned but it seems PR is a foreign word for them.
Guys, this is business 101.
Pimax is a company and wants to stay alive/earn money.
Whatever the cause is for the “retail” headsets (i can in a second think about multiple cases) it looks as indeed they did let a part of the production “slip” into retail.
We do not know about the contracts they made with retailers to deliver a certain amount of headsets at a specific date for example. Would you better see pimax on lawsuit and going broke or would you like them to survive and deliver all headsets? Just one of the many possibilities, we just don’t know.
That said, i do not like the information flow from pimax. It is unprofessional as can be. One side they give us all details about production, on the other hand no details about which unit is “shipped” to warehouses.
If you look at the produced headsets supposedly sitting at pimax office not beeing shipped, it just fitts too nicely the case of these not shipped units going to retail if ordered there…
I am happy to have received my units, so it is not on me to be angry (anymore. I did wait also more than a month after “shipping and selecting email” to receive the headsets). And i am happy for every single one who i can share my experience with.
Nevertheless it should be clear for everyone that pimax as a company will only survive long term if they become swallowed by or merge with a bigger player (hopefully a VR company)…
It is always easier to have this way of thinking when you have already received your HMD(s). People in the 7xxx just feel differently when barely 1k HMDs have been currently received by backers.
Do you have shop front sales photos?
If it is sold domestically, it will become a topic immediately.
However, I have never heard of it in the Japanese community.
No it’s not like the 5k BE oled. It’s our 5k+ and 8k but with better support. And they’re also selling the 5k BE. And funny how it’s not advertised as 5k+BE and 8k BE, and is on a retail site (if I’m not mistaken?).
Yeah at least try to be truthful because no one is buying this excuse. @anon74848233 as it seems you guys have enough headsets ready to sell elsewhere i want you to contact me and send me my Headset now. This is unacceptable.
Better that they stay solvent until all backers are supplied so maybe them selling “BE” versions is a good thing , they definitely did tell us that they were going to sell the BE models along the way ages ago under the pretext that these were inferior/first run headsets
