Pimax Play VR tools feature request

Hey @PimaxQuorra, I don’t suppose you have any update from the devs about the mouse cursor when using Pimax Desktop? Or would be there any change for this in Beta 2.x or Evo?

This is still no 1 for Pimax Desktop usability improvement imo. The resolution is much better in the Dream Air over the 8KX. And I think I saw an option to adjust the overlay resolution in 1.44.x now?

Ah scratch that, 1.44.1 has a fully working mouse cursor already. I’m a happy bunny  :clinking_beer_mugs:

Thanks to everyone in the team for this fix :folded_hands:t4:

That’s great to hear.

Yes, the ability to adjust the overlay resolution was introduced in the 1.44.2 build.

Please add an option, that when you press the dashboard button it can go directly to the Desktop view.

I’ve already submitted this request.

I also submitted another feature request that would allow the headset to boot directly into the Desktop view instead of the default Home environment, with the option for users to switch between the two.

At this point, I can’t confirm whether this feature will be implemented, but the request has been forwarded to the development team for consideration.

100% in support of your comments.

It would also be good to see Martin @ Pimax do some videos for people showing what works at present and whats planned.

If someone bought a pimax headset and had no experiance in technology ir IT or otner associated areas they would give up.

I will add my favourite project for a long time is Star Citizen and I know work is going on with vr but the sooner we get eye tracking and foveated rendering the better especailly for these high resolution headsets.

Overall credit to Pimax on the base driver but as for sboys for me its a flat fail at present.

The function e.g detail of the desktop view in the pimax driver and program far better related in the above post needs some urgent work it quite dreadful.

Yes agreed, it’s always been a thing for a while that Pimax assume prior technical knowledge for correct setup of their headsets, and that guidance information is lacking and/or scattered.

This was fine in the early days, but now with the Crystal Super and Dream Air series being premium headsets getting mainstream attention, the quality of the customer experience really needs to improve asap, or they will drive lots of new and potential customers away.

I know they have been improving Customer Service a lot, and that’s a good start, but there’s a lot more to be done tbh.

Btw I wrote an initial review of my Dream Air here, and highlighted some issues with the experience for new users being lacking: Dream Air Lighthouse version first impressions

Please make a version of Pimax Play that allows you to load alternate distortion profile files (.json files). Or at least let me test this on my own Windows PC by giving me access to this experimental version of Pimax Play that Martin mentioned in a YT video months ago. I am willing to experiment with this and give you feedback. I think a lot of us here on OpenMR would be happy to provide this feedback.

The FOV on my Dream Air SLAM is not wide enough for good flight simming. I also own the Crystal Super UW and it is much more immersive with the wider FOV, but just very heavy compared to the Dream Air. I realize the Dream Air will not be capable of the same FOV as the UW module, but we all know that the DA FOV profile can be increased. That would be great to use!

Several months ago Martin posted a youtube video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnMCCkZGcFw ) where he achieved wider FOV by creating several alternate distortion profiles that he could load into an experimental version of Pimax Play. He also sent those new distortion profile to the Dev team. Martin indicated that you/Pimax would make this available but we have seen nothing about this at all for 5+ months!

Please provide to a link to a version of Pimax Play that allows an upload of these alternate distortion profiles. Either the ones that Martin sent to you, or files that you have developed in-house.

Thank you
