What to make of this post? Must be something Palmers working on with his new company Andurul. Most likely military grade
Because of something like this, it is important that Pimax be released as soon as possible, about the risk of when it is released, is outdated.
You still have to consider cost.
Right now, a single 7680X4320@120hz screen would easily cost more than the entire Pimax 8k.
Also, although it is Palmer, he never said this has anything to do with VR.
For all we know he could be talking about his desktop.
With those specs it would be worth mortgaging the house. Sell the family
Right to the point. True
Other notable things Palmer has said but not done: Buy htc, Buy HTC Vive, make Oasis vr…If he’s for real, he probably means personal device for himself and he’s bragging. Which I don’t know, makes everyone feel shitty.
If rich people having stuff others don’t makes you feel shitty, then you will feel shitty all the time.
I say that’s a worthy Resolution!!!
Good Luck!!!
History is filled with failed tech companies who rushed their product due to “vaporware”!!!
True, but history is also full of companies that failed because they acted or reacted very slowly.
Pebble
“Apple and Samsung may have popularized the smartwatch, but Pebble led the way beforehand. The original Pebble became the most-funded Kickstarter product of all time, raising more than $10 million in 2012. And the company cultivated a strong developer following, with hundreds
of third-party apps and watch faces available.
But the smartwatch market was too small for Pebble to survive for long, especially when the world’s biggest tech giants entered the space. In December 2016, Pebble announced it would
sell its technology and other assets to Fitbit. Still, versions of some of Pebble’s early ideas can be found in today’s top smartwatches.”
Ain’t like that bub. His comments are though.
To be clear I think he’s a good dude. I’m just having a bad morning.
Even 1080Ti SLI or Volta Ti cannot power this.
Tbh I don’t mind blowing money on the Highest resolution screen possible but if it can’t be powered. It’s pointless.
At the end of the day I cannot afford the system requirements to support this or the 8KX (hence why I did not back it!). Pushing the technology boundaries is never a bad thing, all consumers benefit from the investment into R&D and competition between manufacturers.
I welcome Palmer’s commitment, I do hope it is not another Oculus story with a sell out to a larger company prior to delivering on the product. I despise creative types who sell out for money rather than staying true to their creative vision. Could you EVER imagine Elon Musk selling SpaceX or Tesla? He literally gives 0 ****s about the money, for him it’s legacy. I would not be surprised if he is in the history books one day as the forefather of inter-planetary colonisation.
I don’t care what people say about Palmer, he sold his title as the forefather of VR to Facebook. I take his post with a pinch of salt.
I can see the 8KX being powered in 2 years. That’s why I bought it.
That’s OK, but it is quite possible that in 2 years there will be better or cheaper alternatives.
It is a bit of a risk, but not an unreasonable one.
Indeed Palmer has earned his place alongside the rest of the dot com sell outs.
I’m not taking him seriously anymore.
he forgot to say that the latency is -3ms
I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s playing round with his own prototype for personal use. He’s extremly rich and well connected. Hell he made the rift prototype with nothing
The guy is an attention whore, this is just more of that.
