Palmer Luckeys NY Resolution

Surely Palmer has only bought a couple of 8K TVs. What a clickbait.

I’m a technology gambler like yourself so I also went for an 8K-X. Here is why I took such a risk:

Basically I recalled a past history of ‘crazy’ GPU releases by AMD with their ‘X2’ cards, specifically when under pressure by Nvidia. AMD is under pressure again now. Even watercooled, Vega 64 lost significantly to the ‘old’ Pascal based GTX 1080Ti FE despite superior but unfinished/disabled technology!

My hope is, AMD will pull out all the stops for a very limited card release as they did years ago, for ‘revenge’ against Nvidia.

In May 2014 an AMD Radeon 295x2 in crossfire (two dual GPU cards) could manage 77fps in Bioshock infinite at 4K. Yes it was $2,000 worth of GPU’s, but in may this year, (another 4 months time), that was 4 years ago a video card in Crossfire could run a AAA title in 4K at 77 FPS. Naturally, it destroyed an Nvidia GTX 780ti in SLI at the time. 2970x2 was an absurd card in Crossfire, not just the 1300w power draw either…

To operate an 8K-X in today’s timeframe we will need a similar spectacular performance jump over an Nvidia GTX 1080ti and Nvidia Volta/Ampera ti, to run two 4K displays at 90fps for VR. It’s unlikely that two Volta/Ampera GPU’s in SLI can do that IMOI, four cards would work though but we know that isn’t supported anymore.

So my blind faith, is an AMD AIB company launch a totally over the top next gen dual GPU card. Best case scenario on Vega refresh in 2018, worst case, with Navi in 2019.

If they don’t we can use our 8K-X’s as plant pots for Bonsai trees until 2020.

Why Bonzai tree pot ? in 8k -x and any steam vr HMD you can scale resolutions down to hit required fps…

Come on guys… That’s not Luckey’s product, he said that he can’t wait to get his hands on the pimax 8k remember? Someone else may be working on it, if this thing is to come out in the near future. And it can possibly be run with lower graphics card, if foveated rendering is implemented
