MRTV's HP Reverb G2 through the lens video

The worst preview to Pimax 8K X that would be possible to do

I am really wondering why you guys are so keen on through the lens videos of this particular preproduction unit…

coz we want to know how it stacks up against g2 even if 8kx is a preproduction unit =)
(i doubt there is much difference anyway) =)

Internet drama…your call to wait for the “final” version is a good one. Otherwise you’ll be subject to aggressive behavior not just from fans but Pimax staff itself. It’s a good call.

He already did one, with smartphone quality, did you missed it?

oh well I guess there isn’t much reason to at this point, since 8kx is already shipping.

still entertaining to watch while waiting tho =)

Yes, that’s true, disappointed but entertained
Would have been nice an honest and independent comparison between Pre-8KX Vs. Pre-G2

@mixedrealityTV why not do a comparison with the original Reverb and show whats improved?

Surely that’s an obvious comparison to carry out as there will be lots of Reverb owners wanting to know how much of an improvement it really is?

I think, if the g2 is on the market and the price for the g1 comes down, the old Reverb is the the Best Buy for the (low) money… xD

Seb explained why he is waiting; due to Kevin’s claim it is drastically improved visuals over the ces model Seb has.

On the plus when he receives the final model he can do TTL to direct compare CES model to the Final and show what changes are there.

Yes, the resolution of the G2 screens is very captivating, I even wanted to buy it. But remembering that I was getting 8KX soon, I quickly changed my mind. At the end of the day, you can always reduce the FOV to potato.
Martin, potatoes are okay  . That is to say, an indicator, please do not change this name(for fun).

Maybe it would be good to watch this videos again, on a 4k monitor.
All this have been filmed with a 4K camera, not the same one though

exactly … I personally find the last mrtv videos completely soft.
there is no difference whether I watch 1080p or 4k.

the colors are good, that’s it … no sharpness

Simply an issue with ttl shots and uploading/converting for youtube. There okay for a rough idea. Places like Eurogamer has specialized equipment for comparing at least for flat gaming and might have similar eq for VR.

@mixedrealityTV please Assetto Corsa through the lens for the G2! Lots of us with pre orders are waiting for that. The “torture test” would be Paul Ricard Blancpain Layout due to the colors, lines and such. Paul Ricard | RaceDepartment You can download here. No one is doing distance clarity videos for sims. Reading the dials isn’t as critical in a driving sim as it is in a flight sim. In a driving sim, track and distance clarity is what matters the most. Being able to pick out your reference points down the track is most critical .

Just seen the latest g2 video TTL, I’m wondering why it seems different recording modes were used on hmd compared, g2 video looked smooth and rift s looked like its shot with slower shutter speed that caused blurry recording, I thought it’s only a good comparison if the condition is the same.

Let me bring up an entirely new perspective from an 8KX owner.

I actually don’t care about colors. I’m actually interested if the G2 solves the ‘Screeniness’(I need a word for this) or ‘Artifacts’ of a Screen. I don’t see SDE on the 8KX. Besides the Aliasing I did notice one thing and I notice it on my 4K TN Panel monitor as well.

If I stare at any light background that is of solid color it becomes far more obvious. I’m actually not sure if other people see it because I never hear it being mentioned so it might be my own eyes. I can actually see that my screens are not ‘Uniform’ White. There is some extremely microscopic colors that exist inside the white. Very different from how if you have a white object or a white sheet of paper. There is no visual artifacts of a screen. We’re getting that good at simulating reality where that is my only distraction.

I’m curious if the G2 solved it or is it something that requires MicroLEDs or future tech.

It seems Mura to me.
