Can you ask them about that page? I hope the price on that page won’t be the final price because it’s really expensive.
With each FoV mode affects percentage of Resolution being used.
Ie Large FoV as a baseline would be 100% Normal might be somewhere around 80%
Hey Sebastian, can you compare the resolution of the G2 versus the 8KX on small or potato FOV mode? If it is smaller FOV, the pixel density might be higher?
no, changing the FOV on the PIMAX does NOT affect pixel density - for that you would need to physically swap the lenses - the FOV modes on pimax just introduce black borders on the outside left/right
The 8kX only cuts off pixels for smaller FoVs, you won’t get any higher pixel density that way.
as Seb’s just said, CDW are not the official launch partner, so I wouldn’t worry about it just yet - their price for the G1 is also very high
That’s odd because an HP employee in this subreddit keeps saying that HP is waiting on CDW to decide to open pre-orders:

So either it’s official or they just got confused?

Hi Seb. I enjoyed your G2 preview very much and the through the lens footage looks very impressive. I am hoping the final version Pimax 8kx will look just as good. If it doesn’t I hope Pimax take it onboard and improve the displays and lens of their range. I look forward to your full MRTV review of both finished retail HMD’s.
I’m 67.5 ipd , I really enjoyed the clarity of the G1 reverb before I sold it on , It was only comfortable when I put a thin face cushion on it to get my eyes very close to the lens and was looking at close objects ,
ridiculous to manufacture headsets with fixed ipd imo
The G1+ with only the ipd adjustment is a buy in my book
@mixedrealityTV
Can you please try out some Eleven Table Tennis on the G2 vs the Index?
Would particularly be interested in tracking (you often don’t look at your hands in that game and have to perform a very precisely timed path in space) and whether 144 Hz makes a difference vs 90 Hz here.
I have one of the HP pro sets. G1.5 I guess( HP called it a pro set). Its the very best picture I’ve seen ever but no good FOV! sound is just ok. I also have a few other sets. Even a Pimax 5K+ which I find myself always messing with every time there is a patch and a lot of pain to keep it running well. . The only thing it has is the FOV which is outstanding. Nothing else is that good.
Next please 8KX pre-production model vs HP Reverb 2 pre-production model. I will not believe for 1 SECOND that Pimax has managed to get the visual so much better in the final version compared to the CES version you have that the differences are massively noticeable.
He will not do it, he loves Pimax much more than Oculus and Valve, and he don’t want to compare the awful picture quality of the 8KX preproduction model.
The truth is that this is the same scene that I tried at VRDays, with the same preproduction 8KX, and the picture quality was on par with the footage of this video
Actually I don’t love brands, but I love VR in general. I don’t care if it’s HP or Oculus or Pimax delivering the next amazing piece of hardware.
I’m glad to hear it, really. I love immersion in general.
It’s strange though, that your fans are asking you for this comparison even on the comment section of you videos, without any luck.
I tried the preproduction model almost one year ago, and to me, it was perfectly fine for make a TTL video with it, but maybe I’m wrong and you have a bad unit
If you haven’t a defective unit the picture quality should be something like this
And in my opinion it is perfectly fine for a TTL video with a 4K camera
Pimax themselves would be in a much better situation to provide some juicy through the lens videos since they obviously have access to the final 8K X!
Which is why it is better to save the TTL til he receives the 8kX final and do a compare.
