Sure be nice if the dfr works well with the 5k+ mine looks way better with tons of supersampling
I think your way is better, if they had a brake away part and include a piece that you could insert if you want to remove the eye tracking.
yep. probably the best way to solve the problem.

āMaking the small modification wonāt be required in the very near future and we did develop a version of the cowling with the pass-through hole.ā
Yes I did, That video was posted by a backer though and hardly from Pimax officially. So its not that surprising i missed it.
Has pimax ever officially told us that this had to be done?
That entire video @SweViver did on the eye tracking never mentioned having to to cut shiit up to install it.
VROasis would be having a field day with this. Shh nobody tell him.
Side Note: I know Mike is a backer, I wonder if he has an account on these forums, I mean the way he hates on the Pimax you would think he would have an account to show that heās done his research a bit before bashing them, theres alot of useful info on here.
Knowing the pimax is an enthusiast headset and not having an account on these forums and then being highly critical of the product is a bit weird, no?
He probably is under s stealth username. anyone know it?
Pimax, the only premium hmd where you see customers designing their product.
I really like the sarcasm. unfortunately we have no influence on the quality.
@TrevorVR got it from Pimax though⦠![]()
Hereās some official post, on Reddit this time⦠![]()

With all due respect, thatās the also part of the reason I pulled out of the upgrade plan.
With the upgrade plan not exactly being a bargain if you do the math (I would have been ok with that though) I hate to be the first iteration scapegoat again.
Make no mistake we will see iterations of the 8kX probably every month, even āsmallā issues like that will quite stack up and I would not expect to get the replacement parts for free, even if proven disastrous.
This is just the very first very obvious thing diy-ing something that actually can be considered a very foreseeable issue.
And Iām 100% sure they knew it but went along with it anyways.
But hey, Iām happy that people feel different about that and do not mind. As long everybody is happyā¦so am I.
I just had to realize that I personally do mind, very much.
Yes the video is official.
Also here is the original post on official Pimax subreddit https://www.reddit.com/r/Pimax_Official/comments/hs4zk8/eye_tracking_installation_guide
Yes, but Pimax (correctly, imo) decided it was better to not introduce yet another delay. I considered getting the eye-tracker, but didnāt. That now appears to have been a good decision. Iām not afraid to make mods, so if there are a bunch of ā5-starā reviews the eye-tracker, I might yet buy one.
So, i played TWD S&S for around 90min.
Performance was nice, even with pp needed (60% SteamvrSS, 2300v). sharpness was excellent.
Saw an annoying mirror image (left and right of the original) at the high contrast white image on black background which is displayed when loading the game.@sweviver @PimaxVR We need a possibility to remove the plastic window in the eye-tracking modules. i hope it is not needed for stability. I want to hear your feedback first before i remove it myself and eventually damage the modulesā¦
I read an unofficial post that mentioned that the camera uses the reflection in the window in some way. I would definitely not remove it until you get feedback indicating that itās OK to remove them.
Thatās one of the things that bums me out. Something like that should have been mentioned before we all raced to plop down the money for it.
The walking dead doesnāt need parallel projection though. At least not on my StarVR One
Oh, nice! need to try out.
Edit: Works great! play it now at normal, 82%Steamvrss (2900v) with 93% GPU load. 75fps solid. Nice!
looks like i have to join that reddit now.
Weird that wasnt posted on the forum by them.
yup and whats this about
So the eyetracking has a window inside, i thought it was just a frame.
this keeps getting better
I wouldnāt be concerned. Things will be cross posted.
The little eye tracking camera is pointed at the glass right, not the eyes. take away the glass and it wont see your eyes (in the reflection)
