Cleaned the lenses, removed the adhesives from the frames, applied the frames, removed the protective foil from the backside of the eye-tracking glass, pressed first the plug on top in the hole of the hmd (where the USB port is on non 8kX models) then positioned the modules on the metal rings, removed the adhesives on the front glass side.
From the beginning:
Turned on the hmd and dialed the ipd in. From around 67mm on I realized a tension on the eye-tracking cabling to a point where the eye-tracking modules suddenly snapped out of position.
So I checked the cut-out:
Realized that there is still tension, especially if the foam is on and the forehead presses onto this area. Then the Lower part of the modules snap Up. Sh*t.
So I made even more room, to a point where there is no pressure anymore on the cables:
Did try the sdk calibration but that didn’t work. The green dots representing the eyes immediately disappear. Something not working here. I even closed pitools, but that didn’t fix it either.
Sweviver or Someone said no, but I tried and was in no way happy with the metal rings rigid ness. There is just a 2cm notch on top and bottom which supposedly fixes itself with the cloth above and below the lenses. Was a Little loose still. So I used the adhesives
tried an hour with different downloads from the 7invensun site.
Nothing worked.
unplugged and replugged the top usb cable which was a lottle woblling. detected again the eye tracking but same result.
opened the device manager and have a new device under cameras. Properties of it showed a not migration because of another similar device?
tried to start first pitools, then steamvr then the eyetracking runtime. started the calibration and… black hmd. did need to un and replug the hmd. then i tried again several times. but that did not happen again.
If it could function I would like to see its use on the 5K+. But considering it is basically just an interesting looking addition to an already interesting looking headset…it just basically looks cool. Hope we all can get something useful out of it soon. Thanks for your effort and impressions here on the forum.
