Glasses too close to lenses

I just got my 5k+ yesterday and after sorting out some software issues I got to try it today. Major problem. My glasses touch the lenses long before the headset is anywhere close to properly tight. Anyone else encountered this problem and have a solution? Probably going to have to find some additional padding.

Any recommendations on lense protectors is also welcome.

Think thats the only way to be able to wear glasses yes.

The glasses thing is also highly personal, there are plenty of people who are just fine in that regard even with regular ones.

As long as there is no thicker padding from Pimax or VR Covers, you could try one for the Vive. Perhaps someone here at the forum who already received the Pimax can look up if it fits…
And for lens protection I would go for a cell phone display foil and cut it to the right size…

plenty, yes, plenty that cant use glasses.
My daughter cant even wear it without eyeslashes wiping the lenses…

I added fabric that I stitched while waiting for some cheap foam from AliEx, Vive one should fit or any else, most foam are the same shape for hmd’s.

No need for hasty generalization there. For now, It is individual, until we gather representative statistics.

Iam sorry but they are VERY closes, like very very close, I cant imagine how to wear glasses without adding foam or what.

As long as everyone in the world has the same face shape, same ipd and same eye recession depth. I am no saying you are deceiving me, it is just that this is not representative. Considering that your daughter inhereted some parts of your physical features. We need more data to make general statements.

Maybe you can use contact lenses when using the headset?

Do note that headset has it’s own focus distance, which means you should tell your optician about it, if you have issues with accomodation or generally require different type of glasses for different tasks.

True !
But actually she is not my biological daughter and even Sweviver mentionned this issue, about eyelashes wiping the lenses.
I dont even talk about the fact that I wear glasses that I can no way use with the headset but fortunately dont need it, since its only for one eye and is corrected by the headset.

Well I hope I can use the headset because I can not see very close anymore after a laser surgery

How close is close? For you at least.

You can use Vrcover foams, they fit fine, you just have to cut a small piece from another one for the nose. I have tried both 6mm and 14 mm which I prefer.

Well, this forum I can not read closer than 20-25cm on mobile phone screen.

You should be fine then, most hmds have a higher focus distance, if you are fine in vive, you should fine. AFAIK of course.

Not generalization. Default foam glasses are generally too close unless you wear granny specs.

Try purchasing peal & stick foam from aa hardware store & attach hook side velcro might atrach to pre installed foam to increase thickness.
