My newly updated password no longer worked and all recent updated comments / posts since then are now missing.
I rejoined the forum last week after being away from it for some time, and everything I wrote to everyone is now gone, sigh.
I wanted help from @PimaxQuorra to get the 8KX working natively (ie without Parallel Projections) with SC VR via Silvan-CIG on the SC VR topic, but none of it is there.
Same, I spent literally hours and hours and made an entire thread on how and what and why to add to Pimax Play 2.0 from all the reviewer youtube comments so they donāt get wrecked when they release it and itās all gone. Maybe damage control and they donāt want my ideas out there to prove their broken ui system can be easily and amazingly fixed? Idk; Iāll probably remake my thread but Iām extremely frustrated and disappointed. Pimax has so much potential and it just seems wasted time and time again by taking advice from the wrong people and ignoring advice that could transform their user experience overnight.
Our apologies. The forum has become unstable. I had noticed some weird things like having to login multiple times and had a message of āYou are not permitted to view resourceā. Which as an Admin made no sense. Initially it appeared as it might be something on my end as Quorra was not experiencing the issues I was. Then other users and Calvin started having the same issues I experienced.
We tried a few things to resolve the instability. After the forum crashed completely. The IT team tried restoring a backup with no luck. So they needed to dig deeper and ended up doing a big upgrade to the server OS
Unfortunately we did loose some recent posts/topics in the process.
I am not as familiar, but if you know how you can likely copy it from the is it Internet Archive? Might have a cached copy of the info that can likely be reposted in a new topic.
There is this topic in Star Citizen. Not sure if it was the one or not. If it is likely the one missing posts.
No conspiracy here. This couldnāt have happened at a much worst time. As I explained to Octofox. If you are familiar with accessing things like the Internet archive you might be able to recover the info you posted in cached pages and repost a new topic summarizing the key points of issues and how you resolved them.
Our apologies for this inconvenience. With the server OS being upgraded. Hopefully we donāt experience any new issues. We will likely start a new process of making routine database backups more frequent with deleting older backups as needed. Something we need to eval for best way to accomplish best redundancy.
Hello @Heliosurge, long time no speak, hope you are well!
I see, sorry to hear - not pleasant when things start to spiral out. I hadnāt thought to check the Archive but just did, and sadly there are only a handful of crawls for the forum in 2025, the last two being in October. Never mind.
Yes, that was the topic I had written in, but itās OK I will ask PimaxQuorra directly here, thanks!
Parallel Projections is required to make the 8KX work with Star Citizen, which of course is a large GPU hit on an already demanding title. And I only have a 2080 Ti
So I explained to Silvan as best as I could what this is and how the 8KX could be supported natively to circumvent the need for Parallel Projection eg Implement Proper Eye Transforms, avoid hardcoding any FOV settings, ensure frustum culling support for canted displays etc - he said that āI already do all of that. The projection matrices are coming straight from openxrā, so asked what is the issue.
Itās not something he has encountered by the sounds of it, nor have any of the other testers on his Discord - they donāt know what Parallel Projections is, or why it is necessary. I explained that it seems SC, like other games with the issue, expects parallel displays and lenses.
So if he is doing all the right things, Iām not sure why the issue still exists - any idea from the Pimax side?
Btw I have to set PP in āCommon Settingsā in PiPlay to get it to work, as currently itās not possible to have a profile call starcitizen.exe directly, because it expects the Launcher and EAC to run first. Using the Launcher executable doesnāt work either.
Glad to hear it. Yes all good thanks. Iāve been out of gaming VR for some time in favour of work-based VR (the vast majority of projects on standalone headsets, rather than PCVR).
