Hi everyone. I am wondering if anyone can help. I received my first headset lighthouse version and the tracking keeps dropping out and also micro jitters. I put a ticket in and Pimax kindly sent out a second headset. However this one is also not tracking correctly and completely loosing tracking every minute or so but not jittering as much. I have tried many different heights and positions, and lights on and off, and different rooms in my house and they all fail to track correctly. Ive covered up anything that could reflect still with no success. Can anyone suggest anything to me as its nearly unplayable in MSFS 2024.Thanks for your assistance
Try to clean the front of the headset, clean base stations and turn on accelerated GPU scheduling to see if that help. Try to have one base station at 6.5 feet and another at 9 feet.
Can you tell us a bit more about your setup. # of Lighthouses, distance between Lighthouses?
Some have reported moving Lighthouse farther apart fixed tracking for some.
Here is topic that may help as well
What version of Pimax Play are you using? My lighthouse Dream Air will not track with version 2.0.1 but it works with 1.44.2. Both versions are available from the Pimax website.
In Pimax Evo, go to Settings > Switch to Pimax Play Classic > Settings > Device Diagnose
This diagnostic check may spot USB errors. Even if it doesn’t, try all USB ports (mainly focus on USB3-USB4 ports connected directly to the CPU).
Thanks for your reply. Yes Ive tried all that but to no avail unfortunately
Thanks for your reply and help. I have 2 lighthouse basestations version 2.0. Ive tried multiple positions and also different rooms and still doesnt track properly. Ive tried multiple distances too with no luck
Ohh that would be great if it works. Im using 2.0.1 at the moment. So do I just download 1.22.2 or is there some other way i need to revert back to this version. Thanks for your help
Hi and thanks for your help. Can you please tell me how to download evo. I carnt seem to find the download link anywhere.
Pimax Play beta channel just offered 2.0.2 from 1.44.2. I installed it (all I did was select “clean install”). With this new version the head tracking on the Dream Air is working great (as it was in 1.44.2 but not 2.0.1) It did say it was going to install firmware 1.0.4 but it left my headset at 1.0.3.
Remember with Pimax, latest isn’t best - unless you want to be an early adopter and want to help test and deal with issues. At last check, Beta 2.x and Evo were reported to be causing issues.
I have a Dream Air Lighthouse, and I’m using 1.44.2 and FW 1.0.3 and all seems good. I have a single v1 LH above my desk (1-2m away only), and it works fine - I need to move back several metres to get the initial connection. The tracking on the Dream Air is more sensitive than older headsets like my 8KX though and I’m very careful not to block LoS after the initial connection before launching into an app.

Maybe try the tips listed here?
I had same problem with Pimax Play 2.0.
I’ve found on Pimax old advices that “stations should not be closer to the Headset than 2m. Otherwise the tracking could be lost…”
After moving them (two stations of version 2.0) further than my initial 1.3m, means now over 2.2+ meters this dragging totally of the focus cased or almost cased, maybe happens once per 5-10min but not as much.
Also the jitter now is very small, but yes, still present in some games or situations.
so much for lighthouse tracking being the god of all tracking solutions.
Been using lighthouse since Vive Pre in 2016
Had multiple 1.0 and 2.0 set-ups with different headsets including Vive, Vive Pro, Index and pimax Crystal original and Light both with lighthouse faceplate, now have Dream Air Lighthouse and lighthouse faceplate for Super 50ppd
Multiple controllers including index, pimax sword and Vive Pro.
Cannot report any tracking problems, its just always worked very well I play a lot of active games especially Pavlov multiplayer
I have a dedicated VR room with three 2.0 base stations mounted at ceiling height, black rubber floor, plain walls, heavy curtains and empty room with no furniture, this may be the reason it’s so hassle free?
Jean-Luc Picard, is that you???
Perhaps his younger brother that grew up in England?
As above, but with a bit more detail:
I have a single v1 Lighthouse above my desk on a shelf looking down - distance about 1-1.5m only.
Never had any trouble with seated application on the 5k+ and 8KX. I have to move the headset further away to initially connect for a session, but once done it’s always been fine.
The Dream Air is worse though, much more sensitive. A slight LoS block will result in 3DOF and huge tracking drift that needs constant recentering in game. PiPlay will not register this and everything looks the same.
If I encounter this, I restart the service in PiPlay (which restarts the headset too), reconnect, and relaunch my game. This solves the issue.
I’m using 1.44.2. Beta 2.x might be less stable for tracking by the sounds of it. Haven’t tried Evo..
Hi,
I have had some tracking issues with my Dream Air with a single v 1 light house. I would lose tracking whenever I turn my head and look down, away from the light house.
With the old 5k plus and the 8kx there were no issues. I only play in a seated position. (MSFS, X-Plane, DCS and Condor 3)
Just purchased two new v2 base stations and my tracking problems are gone.
Due to my room setup I can only place the light houses 1.5 meters and 1.7 meters away, but it works fine.
Thanks for your reply. The problem I was having is my room setup, and what you have described in your room is what was needed. I had too many reflective materials. Its now fixed and Pimax has been incredibly helpful with my issue.
