Yes, i found my comment after the meetup in Gouda,
https://community.openmr.ai/t/join-us-on-the-pimax-5k-vs-8k-demo-event-with-vrspace-in-netherlands-this-weekend-1-2-december/10657/53
I would go and stick to the 8k the first reviews are outdated as the rendering is finetuned and as the 8k has really good clarity all the factors weigh differently
Dear 8k users, how many of you see the “wobble” effect that MRTV and a few others have talked about?
@Heliosurge the end of this tread?
https://community.openmr.ai/t/tracking-latency-or-the-wobble-issue-has-been-solved/12547
Cool missed we need a new firmware. My bad.
Oh the “wobble/moving world” issue was very real trust me!
It was making me nauseus and I normally never get nauseuas!
But like I said with the headset tracking firmware update all is well now!
I was told by support anyone having these issues (and they are very real and not as you say who scream the loudest) to contact them and they will upgrade the headset firmware remotely(Pitool cannot do this)
Great it has been solved for the people like you how are sensitive!
I didn’t mean it wasn’t there, but more like it’s a big item for a very small amount of people.
Hat off to the pimax team
Ah but we do now have many that have both and do not observe this effect myself included along with sweviver & voodoodx. So while the 8k does have mor3 latency due to lower refresh rate compared to the 5k+.
The simple truth it is those who are sensitive to it that are directly bothered by it. Others mostly notice it more often doing over exaggerated movements or performing a specific test. Meaning if your an 8k user who has not been bothered by it. Don’t strive to find it.
The same is true on how you have not been able to see the Black dots of the 5k+. I couldn’t before but can now see them like others. But for me they don’t really bother me now that I can recognize them. Before I was blind to them; however subconsciously it might be part of why I have preference of the 8k. But that might be stretching it.
After reading the 5k+ wobble may have been related to lighthouse tracking lag as well.
Sounds like this fix might also work on those seeing it on the 8k. @Sean.Huang has the team looked into this with users like Seb & karrtoon?
My bad will stop bumping this thread.
No, good job. This is exactly what we want. To 8k users with the wobble effect, please do the same as the guy above did and contact support and see if they can fix it for you like they fixed it with his 5k+. If this gets fixed I’m gonna switch ASAP to the 8k. (Can I even switch now or is it too late…?)
Premature closing this thread. Surely we need more confirmation from other users that this firmware update resolves the issue.
Yes please, i would like to know aswell if the 8k woobling can be fixed
They have to contact support and give remote access to their PC. It’s rather a sensitive approach for some people.
Ofc…but there must be some other trusting people to confirm this?
ok lets not be paranoid people. Just install the remote software, let him do the firmware update, you can watch what he’s doing live if you’re worried, which only takes couple of minutes. Once done, close connection and uninstall the remote software control. Trust me there is nothing to be afraid. All went super well for me here in Canada.
The alternative is to send back your headset to china, so the choice is yours.
Yeah what are they afraid of Trust me, pimax wouldn’t want anyone’s nudes…I do this teamviewer thing all the time with a motion simulator dev who’s sold me their rig. You sit there and watch what they are doing. You can take control of mouse and keyboard anytime too.
Now…can someone with an 8k facing the issue try it and let us know please? @BNP @Hargert @mixedrealityTV also please try it with 3dof without lighthouses and see if this issue is still there or not
I have a ticket in now as well as a chat request to get the update for my unit. Will just have to wait and see how long it takes to hear back.
no need for ticket just contact doman.chen@pimaxvr.com directly as stated above please
