Dear 8k users, how many of you see the “wobble” effect that MRTV and a few others have talked about?

Just trying to see how many notice/don’t notice it. As I’m starting to feel like without this issue, the 8k would be superior to the 5k+ according to recent reviews. + your views (the 8k owners) would benefit those who are still undecided like I am

I dont have the 8K but I am getting it. If its the same wobble that occurs in the 4K, then it really wont be an issue. I only noticed it when I moved my head recklessly to the left and right. But I NEVER do that in a game.

I agree, this is the only big issue I see for the 8K.

I just wish there was one that was superior in every way so it isn’t so hard to choose.

For people who see the “wobble”, how much does it bother you? Does it break immersion? Does it make you feel dizzy? Does it make you regret choosing 8K?

Yeah @quanentanglement can you explain this wobble effect you’re seeing?

Seems as though very few people are seeing this…I really don’t get why. Maybe they have something wrong with their headsets or…? Sweviver voodoo heliosurge also don’t notice this.

Some have said that you need to turn your head very quickly to see it.

The face-pad foam thickness might be a contributing factor. Apparently, the headsets are being shipped with 1 of 3 different pad thicknesses: 11, 13, and 15 mm. Which one you get depends on which build batch your headset is in. That could explain some of the variation in peoples’ experiences.

If I shake my head vigorously the stars in ED will move but it is really something I have to force and I would never have considered it if I hadn’t seen it mentioned. Ideally of cause the hmd should be like looking through a pane of glass where no matter how it moves the scenery behind shouldn’t change.

I have shaken my head violently and still have not seen any wobble effect or movement of objects at all.

Hmmm… hope I get my 8K soon to see how it performs.

It’s possible that this effect is triggered by face shape and eye positions. That would explain why only some people see it. Face-pad foam width may also affect it.

Can you please explain how is it that you have not seen any wobble effect and still not having the 8k?

I just got my 8k and I see this effect when looking for it. It is a slight delay when you move your head, almost as if the world is not anchored and moves slightly with you when you start to turn your head. If they can fix this I will be completely happy with my headset.

Each one has strength and weakness.
I guess I’ll just have to get both so I don’t feel like I am missing anything.

Can this ‘slight delay’ be ignored if your not looking for it?

5k+ has the black dots issue, and the 8k has this issue…for god’s sake mannnn. I chose the 5k+ but each time I wanna switch to the 8k someone here says they notice the wobbling

If it makes you feel any better, there has been a report of the “wobble” issue on the 5K+ as well. This sounds like a problem which only affects some people (due to head size and shape, which affects eye positions).

Yes it is easy to ignore and I dont notice it when playing games or doing something. I do think it does add to people feeling motion sick. It does not bother me at all but my wife who can use the vive without issue starts feeling bad after about 10 minutes. This is on the same game with even the small view.
I hope this is something the can fix via software.
