Yeah it’s gonna be costly if you’re going all the way, gpu 1300€/$ mobo and cpu probably 700€/$, then possible ram upgrades and other stuff, I’m telling 2000-3000€/$ for Pimax proof rig depending on what hw you already got.
I’m a super early bird backer too !
NR. 187
Rly looking forward to trying those things with the 5k+
Take a look at the Kickstarter page… there’s a gif showing some guy strafing a monster with a bow & arrow in Skyrim using Cybershoes.
Seriously, Pimax needs a new logo.
Super Early Bird too
It’s so realistic you feel like your sitting down!
backer no 12, it live around 30 minutes before the specific time.
it’s not exactly strafing, it’s better than that you just keep on walking while your head is looking to the other side, so you can practically kite in circles.
but the rolls underneath the shoes can only go two way. forwards and backwards. so its kind of a bodyhack. but elegant.
Best description of that I’ve seen!
We VR people love bodyhacks don’t we? (take 2 steps back, retract your arm, open the steam overlay, go to desktop, enjoy slightly better text readability).
Yes, it is. Starting at $1000+, just for the 2080Ti. Even though it is expensive, I feel that it is the only GPU available, that can have a chance at running a 5/8K anywhere near its full potential. I’ll probably will get one of the very top end cards, like the MSI GeForce RTX 2080 TI Gaming X Trio. I only care about Elite Dangerous performance. I have an i7 4770 @ 3.2 GHz and 16 GB ram. I’d rather not also upgrade the CPU right now, so I’m hoping my system is sufficient for a good experience (and it can be graphics quality on “high”, not “ultra” with “regular” FOV).
Although the shipping price slightly increases for the bundles of 2. So you got a slight discount whilst your method was still available
This is confusing. What buyer are you referring to ?
I just watched the video it looks like to much work to me.
It looks interesting but i am not backing this up for a couple reasons:
- This is good for those with little room (i have big room). I want to stand up and explore.
- It is a bit weird like using a wheelchair playing game rather than actually standing up and walking.
- I hope in the future they have something that allow you to stand up and actually walk than sit.
- It still need tether and lamp post (which is better when Pimax go wireless)
- It is cheap and you can get it later if you want.
So not now, maybe later…
I rather invest in a race motion simulator. That FEEL THREE motion simulator kickstarter for about $1,500 look interesting. But it was short and limited. I hope in the future they make race motion simulator that is more affordable…like the Playseat Motion simulator that never come out.
I do agree with your thinking. For me I don’t have a crazy amount of space but do have decent enough to have upto 10ft.
Love to get a motion rig; but don’t really have the space for one & am certain minimally that my neighbor below me would hate me having now. Lol
I was just about to back this and then realised the main game I would use it for would be onward, where I actually spend almost as much time crouched down than standing, plus to even use this in the first place you are seated so onward would see you as slightly crouched and you’d never be able to run.
I don’t see how you could strafe either.
Thanks for the share, I’ve backed it as well. At such a reasonable price I’m willing to give it a shot. It looks good in concept to tackle locomotion issues without paying crazy amounts for treadmills or harnesses.
you strafe by walking and looking in the opposite direction. or rather 45° to your walking direction. crouching is possible. awkwardly youre forgetting that youre half seated, when using those shoes. being kind of in a half standing position and using this saddle-like seat, its like walking in vr. should be great with onward.
