Quick question for anyone here.
Will the Psmove service work with Pimax and Elite dangerous for head position? I know the game has vr support, but I’d like to be able to move my head around as well. If so, what is the best setup to do so?

Should work in any game.
@lukeb might know as he has it & has revistedvthr psmove
Working:
Do not pay attention to misaligned axles. There were problems with the calibration right now they are not.
Aw sweet. @CReDo, is this with v1.1.92 drivers? Are you using freetrack or opentrack with the Pimax Headset?
I’m using Psmove + Driver4VR and 1.1.92
No matter which driver piplay costs
Here is the work in the races:
I’d installing the psmove service again, as I had to clean install windows a few weeks back. Is there anything I need to do with the cameras with the new psmove version as far as drivers go?
Edit: I have the service up an running, now I just need to test out some steam games.
a SteamVR version ? 99% YES [ not 100% because I don`t have EliteDangeroues and cannot say it worked but should ! last time I had problem with DirtRally → but with Revive [ I need to install Oculus SW, also changed in chortcut of SteamVR properties not to use cinema mode = it WORKS ! DIRT RALLY is GREAT !
Also Tries FlyInside for XPlane 11 demo and it worked [ problematic, and not each time, sometimes strange notice that HMD not found ]
if I would buy all controllers available on market, especially like suggested Hydra + Oculus tracker in most of cases [ in the end ] probably hitting a wall, to prove it doesn`t work - I would also need a lot of free time and money to waste → sorry
the PL guy speaks about solution in this video, but on his YT channel I found another nice video of RiftCat + PSMove + LeapMotion as PositionalTracking, BUT from a Mobile Phone Carbox with RiftCat ! [ VRidge as I mentioned many times earlier - requires an external displays like phone in CardBox, so won`t work with PIMAX - this application is doing all job as injecting to SteamVR position, but requires a WIFI connection to Mobile Phone to work - if you have a nice mobile to use - you can use it ! but hard to find it usefull in our case, in this forum with Pimax… ]
Lol 360 kinect under 40 Canadian & xb1 kinect + adapter under 100 ca. My hydra bought for $50.
Ping pong ball with ir led works well for tracking with ir mod
Yes, but will Kinect be better or work as good - with HMD on head ? or will Kinect fix the gyroscope drift of Pimax ? What driver can make it work as SteamVR ? If someone can confirm second and third I will buy it instantly ! since PSMove works good for PT [ only drift could be fixed, maybe a Pimax SW will fix this in the future ] so I`m using my PT and I am very happy with it
PS: hard to find Hydra at this times by the way…
I hear you on the hydra was lucky… Tho coulfmd have sold it for $350 on ebay. Lol
Kinect can do skeletal tracking. Driverwise with steam? Not sure haven’t looked into it. Driver4vr will eventually support it tho.
LOL I have plan to buy a Kinect in near future [ 360 or Xone ], but first D4VR will need to add support for it [ at the moment any Kinect won`t probably work with P4K since no SW solution ]
so till then I will just use my PT [ from 3D printed pingpong ] and enjoy playing games in 4K
I did find an instructable on hacking the newer 360 kinect back 2 usb plus power.
I wonder if there is a hack for the xb1 kinect (of course no xb1 if hacked n slashed lol)
Your 3d printer… Just wonderimg if its the cr-10?
my 3D printer is a Prusa I3 clone [ with a steel frame ] and now I`m printing second one ,from MK2 projects + aluminium construction frame from Rebelix project [ so hoping that my printer will make another one - like cloning ]
Awesome. So you new printer is printing non metal componets.
Have you looked at the cr-10?
Saw a resin printer that uses your cell phone
I haven’t tried using it with Elite Dangerous as I’m happy with the way it is.
I think that it would probably work, but in my opinion it isn’t worth the trouble of the extra complexity.
So, it looks like opentrack has a Valve SteamVr input option. Has anytried using the psmove service in steam vr to ouput into opentrack?
@CReDo I tried the ED combat demo and I was able to use PSMS for head position by using PSMoveFreepieBridge and outputting the data as FreeTrack from FreePie.
I’m not sure why you’d want to send the data via SteamVR to OpenTrack. I think a better route is outputting the data as Hydra controllers from FreePie.
@pho3nix do you know it the pimax HMD can be used just as a display? There’s OpenVR-OpenTrack which uses UDP to apply the orientation (and the position). The PSMove controller could then completely control the HMD pose by routing the data from PSMS to FreePie to OpenTrack (via Hydra emulation) then finally to OpenVR-OpenTrack. I know it’s a bit convoluted and the conversions will need to be calibrated but it’s a thought.
One of the benefit from such solution is possible button selection for recentering true Opentrack or even turn off Pimax Gyro and use other solutions which works better than Pimax tracking.
