But then the data would be in a continuous loop: SteamVR --> OpenTrack --> Something --> SteamVR … . I’m not sure how that would cope.
hmmm… good point, but only if not like [ Android with RiftCat ] over 4K Video stream ? [ could utilize lots of CPU for a 4K + cause additional latencies ]. - also as just a different usage of PSMoves like another way to have same PSMove PositionalTracking [ don
t see any reason since - already have working solution ].
I am thinking more of a FreeTrack / OpenTrack / TrackIR IR module with a PS3Camera filter mod. [ for both rotation & position ] and to inject both as SteamVR HMD [ with set off the P4K gyro which can be achieved in PiPlay settings ],
Question: is it true that earlier versions like 1.1.92 are better then 1.2.75 - in case of better SW Ghosting reduction and less Gyro Drift ? I even tried to check this, but cannot made my HMD recognisable in PiPlay somehow [ installed/reinstalled PiP, Oculus, Drivers, plug/unplug the HMD - still without success, maybe more time, so reverted back to 1.2.75 ]
I don’t mean a stream. Can the pimax HMD be recognised by the PC simply as a second monitor (ie. so that the desktop is displayed across it’s screen)? The only tool I’ve found that can apply an orientation to the HMD in SteamVR is OpenVR-OpenTrack but the visual output of that can only be displayed on a monitor.
The orientation of the PSMove controller is quite low drift (when the magnetometer is available) so why use an additional device for the orientation instead of that?
I don’t have a Pimax HMD so I don’t know sorry.
so, no “direct/pimax” mode [ works as extended - which is slower, worse for gaming ], yes ?
my first thought was to attach my PSMove to P4K HMD, but as a little heavy and not tight → then I found the pingpong ball - which seems a much better way, but in that time I didn`t realize that P4K [ is probably not using magnetometer to compensate ] and has drift → so now why not to use the original thought, but first need to prepare a 3D project of nice looking and precise mount to attach it
I’m not sure what “direct/pimax” mode is sorry.
In my understanding very similar to Oculus old DK2 and SDK 0.6 [ direct and extended mode at second display - in later SDK`s were not supported anymore, also in PiPlay 1.2.75 is hidden - I wanted to ask if it can confirm could be a dead end 1.2.75+ ].
Direct mode allows lower level acs to the display (in this mode the display is not visible to graphics control panel)
In extend mode headset shows up as a display like a multi monitor setup.
Extend mode is more or less now called video mode
@PIMAX-Support - my friend ordered the PImax 4K to Australia and it arrived yusterday, BUT you sent him a wrong version, the BE instead of 4K [ which he bought as wanted only the 4K version ]…
Can you exchange to 4K - like instantly [ how this works at customer service level ] ?
Hmmm PimaxSupport seems kind of busy last couple of days…
There supposed to have exchange procedure finalized by the end of the end of the week. So unfortunately will have to wait.
Get your friend seup here & forward e-vendor info

Look in the forums for @PIMAX-Support post for info needed.
@PIMAX-Support @PimaxVR @deletedpimaxrep1 can yous post an update on exchange progress
Thanks, he has written an email to support.
Your welcome. Hope they get the ball rolling soon
Hi, we will give out a solution in this week : )
@pho3nix Yes, I received that email, thanks.
@PIMAX-Support - Thank you ! - please also consider my suggestion of “recenter” option in PiPlay as configurable button - it would be really much helpfull [ and probably the easiest/fastest way to improve slightly the “drift” effect in games and recentering… ]
CHECK IT OUT Driver4VR has upgraded the new extension: solution for XBOX Kinect 360 Positional Tracking.
According to tutorial is 100% compatible - out of the box - with SteamVR and Pimax4K !
[ I just bought X360 Kinect - so today should be able to pick it up - will check as an alternative to my PSMove tracker, in tutorial this X360 Kinect solution seems much more easier to setup BTW:
Yes I saw it email from Greg.
I hope it also works with my later model Kinect unit with the PC interface.
I take it you have an xb1 style oc kinect?
Has anyone heard of this driver, or know how to get it working with the Pimax 4k?
It is supposed to allow opentrack data to be used for steamVr headtracking. I just found it and will try to get it working. Can some others grab it and see if this works?
@CryCoh I’ve used it (I’ve even modified it to have positional control) but not with a Pimax HMD. I believe it should work if you set your Pimax 4K in extended mode (thanks @Heliosurge).
