How is that 30mm fan on the Pimax?
What’s the speed and sound like with your modded fan control?
What speed do you usually to use?
I found a 25mm fan so I go with it because all the 3D files are available for it like that fan cover and all etc., Haven’t tried 30mm yet, I set the speed full 100% and didn’t notice any sound but I must say airflow is really nice. Still have to check with long game sessions but definitely an improvement in comfort
Great
Looks Great! Like the color!
A special thanks to you and @avengertj , the sweating problem is almost gone but I must change this head strap of Pimax, I never feel perfect in it since I got this 8KX and I always feel like it’s loose somewhere or something is wrong, and if I tight it hard then too much pressure on the forehead and eyelashes also touch the lens which creates some disturbance. When I get my eyes a little away from the lens then I see the picture quality becomes very sharp and enjoyable.
Protein Leather Cushion Comfort Kit Replacement Face Pads Eye Foam Pad Cover for PIMAX 8K PLUS/8K X VR Headset from VRmust Works really well for me.
Keeps my eyes and face at a nice distance from the lens.
Probably have the same problem you have!
Just waiting to try the new Pimax facial foam with Breathable design from Pimax.
Let you know when i get it.
I have also ordered both but my VRmust one stuck in transit so have no idea when will I get my hand on it, but this Pimax facial foam with Breathable design is almost here now and most probably I will receive it in the next few days or a little more but I have not much expectation from it because it is not thick like the VRmust one actually I heard it have almost same thickness like the one we get with stock but that Breathable design could definitely increase some comfort, Anyway, I don’t think it will help much for to get eyes and face at a nice distance from the lens.
Just to confirm this is the one below with breathable design you are talking about right?
We shall see
I received that Pimax facial foam with a Breathable design and I must say it’s amazing and very comfortable, I never thought with this type of thickness I will ever feel comfortable. Soon I will receive that VRmust one also in the next 5-6 days. I have also connected that PSVR 2 earphones with it and the sound in it is just mind-blowing and very comfortable as well
Looking good
I also have mine but have no time to test it out yet.
You took the tape off the snorkel fan.
Did you glue the fan cover on?
Yes I glue it but in a way, so it can easily be removable later if in case I want to try a different types of fans
@Sidekick1 My friend whenever you have time can you do one more favour please , I just printed that 30mm snorkel that you provided STL file earlier here but I didn’t realize it also needed other supported files to fit it on 8KX, If possible can you please just upload it on your Thingiverse page so will have a complete set for both 25mm and 30mm Fan mod. I am not able to try it yet because those supported files are needed but I just turn it on and feel it have really nice airflow and not much noise which is unexpected as compared to that 25mm fan that I am currently using. I wish I knew how to edit these STL files of 25mm fan mod
Is it possible that you can make this wider Please?
The strap on my 8K X is 44mm wide yet the inner portion on the Top Eye Tracker Strap Mount is 39mm. It’s a bit hard to pull the strap back and forth when adjusting it.
I am sorry but I have been a bit out of commission as the last two weeks I have been evacuated from our CA home because of wildfire and during the time I had a stent in the hospital with Covid Pneumonia and now mostly recovered and getting stronger every day. I did not design that part and it is setup for the DAS strap but I will see what I can do to change it but give a day as they are suppose to lift the evacuation today and I can get back to my equipment.
I just checked and I would need to have a fusion360 file to edit that part. I don’t have the version to be able to convert the STL to the Fusion360 file. If I could get the file, I could modify it. Not going to pay $50.00 a month for the upgrade to be able to convert the file, sorry
So I updated my 25mm to the 30mm Front fan here ; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072FW3DDQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I will say the air flow is about the same (maybe a hair less than the 25mm) but it is so much quieter that I like it.
It is installed on top of the Flat Peg and fits nicely. No need for the side bars on the peg as it is stable so far. One could put a little double face tape is needed.
@Sidekick1 I’m sorry to hear that and you make a full recovery and hopefully everything turns out good. My state of New South Wales has been in lockdown for about a month and that’s supposed to finish on the 10th of Sept but the case number keep going up.
I’m no expert in 3d design softwares but I’ll see if I can use something like Meshmixer or FreeCAD to edit the file if possible.
I might get some of those 30mm fans. Did you have to cut of the black connectors and solder the wires?
Yes I soldered the connector to match my input connection to my battery - BEC - and switch.
Hi dude pretty intense to have been evacuated from youre home and getting covid hope you get well
i also made this ventilator setup a while ago but i hardly use it because the noise is really annoying but does the 30 mm setup make a lot of difference?
my 25 mm setup is ok but if i move my head then the sound gets loud and very annoying
but maybe if its a huge difference then maybe i will try making a 30 mm setup maybe there is also a bigger variety of fans to choose from in that size
Thanks Man!
The 30mm fan I showed I cannot hear at all but the 25mm one I can hear and it sometimes gets a harmonic noise to it. Major difference with the 30mm link I posted. If I did not feel the tiny breeze, I would could not tell it was running.
