The plus? You don’t need to dismantle your AVP like you did with the considerable cheaper 5k+.
His testing simply shows what the lenses distort when used on a static 2d image without any correction being applied.
So it would be easy to use these images in the headset with a viewer to see that the out edges as shown where it is distorted being properly corrected for.
Which based on your previous “hyping” is being done to proper level needed. Easy for you to test if you have not loaded a test image yet in the AVP. Covering entire FoV.
Bottom line I have read enough time know the AVP is quite amazing and the fact it seems they have the right distortion correction working makes that even more true. Since Apple is often more focused it would be curious if they consulted Lionel or were able to do it purely on their own.
I am looking forward to when a. Opportunity arises for me to demo one in a store or better maybe an event.
You would be surprised. Been working on that and not all areas are visible to the public
I have been working I. It slowly with being selective mostly of who is invited to help get things setup.
I had thought you could help; As you are often really good contributor helping a variety of people and when we were a team we both did well in the early days curving toxicity. By reaching out to individuals directly in very positive ways.
All these articles of Meta adding AVP features to the Q3 is very positive for as it proves Apple is on the right track. With their first hmd release.
It wouldn’t be hard to find real apple hater articles.
One positive post I shared on Reddit. iVRy Dev responded not to believe anything they post as they claimed to have reviewed software not released. iVRy is apparently making an app for AVP and that publication claimed to have reviewed it.
Karl may like clickbait titles but when you read that particular Articles with picks. It clearly shows the pancake lenses have a nice sweet spot but also suffer from bad distortions outside ring. I was surprised by it as it was over hyped as being much better. I am talking pancake lenses in general.
I would be curious to see someone use the test images in the headset to verify/demonstrate that Apple has accomplished what Lionel said. Which with low FoV shouldn’t be that difficult vs Wfov hmds.
The more Meta scrambles to add/demonstrate AVP features on the Quest is simply a testament of how well Apple is doing.
