5k+ & 8k settings compare

Just increased SteamVR to 100% just to see what it looks like:

and just saw your post so done controller shot

Okay will exit. Though on the 8k don’t need to turn manual override. It suggests 16% on mine where I see it says 38% for your 1080

Fps on the otherhand the overlay looks a touch better than what I see in with the 8k.

So you’re on auto? sounds like its subsampling too far which the pic backs up.

Try manual adjusting.

New pic of controller

hmm, still looks like crap compared to what I’m seeing. something odd with a setting going on somewhere. Wonder if the fact you have an 8k has done something somewhere in pitool backend config?

How do I adjust subsampling? Is that in Nvidia CP?

Its the steamvr setting, if it gets too low its potentially going worse than native res. Something is pushing that resolution down.

What setting did you last use and what res did it show?

Have you tried steamvr at 100% (vid) manual, I know fps will be ‘poor’ but does that improve image quality?

Okay might have found the trouble

What is your system specs? Cpu/ram

Really, what are you finding out?

My CPU is 8700K currently clocked at 4.7
32GB Ram.

My i5 6500 with only 4 cores is holding the gpu back.

Tomorrow will see it on a i7 8700k like yours while a ryzen 7 2700x system is built.

War Robots VR runs perfect on the 8k while the 5k+ not as good.

Hmmm… Gut feeling that cpu shouldn’t bottleneck it all that much. Is the gpu definitely running x16? Only say that as I fell for that on my previous pc, another pci adapter had nudged my gpu down to x8 and I had no idea as it was still running ok at the time.

If unsure, quick check on nvidia cp > system info > Bus:

Have you done any benchmark comparisons?

Will check it later but only have 1 pci-x slot. Itx Board.

Now we need a Ryzen or an 8700k? lol

Well a ryzen 5 should be plenty. Just the i5 just probably too weak.

Will get to see the headset on an i7 8700k. A buddy has this rig.

Beleive this is the same as @SweViver current or old cpu.
The Ryzen 7 2700x maybe more than I really need but will work nicely. Getting a good deal on it.

NV panel checks okay. You system Differs to mine with considerably stronger cpu & double the ram. I have ran 3dmark & vrmark with decent results on par with ranking.

Worth a check… could have been a night and day thing! However I’m not feeling the performance reasoning here. Should still look nice and just run at slower fps with the right SS settings and if you turned off auto.

Here’s a poll i5 6500 hold back 1080 ti

Forgot to post link. But here’s another

Guys,

Try comparing pitool firmwares, I suspect that the 8k may have patched the firmware on Helios as he plugged in the 8k, but not on Spams as he has the 5k+.

Also check your video driver versions. Are you both on the same version

What pitool render are you both on? Helio on your pitool do you have the 1920x1080 option ticked for improved fps but lower res?

Are you both on steamvr beta? Is the new motion feature kicking in? What fps are you getting in the hmd?
