Who want to switch to the 5KS(oled) from his 8k or 5kplus?

who want to switch to the 5KS(oled) from his 8k or 5kplus?

Not unless they are already made and ready to ship.

yes indeed me too! then i would switch

RGB is the big factor for me too.

If it is a full RGB OLED with no big special downside, then I would even wait a bit for it.

@Heliosurge Why did you close the thread when they asked for feedback?

I still have the 5KS website open on my PC
But Pimax did explain about the leak as @jorgenRe attached above.

Open. Fresh thread with Question & we’ll try & keep it clean. Move pimwx responses to it’s own thread.

I appreciate the fact that you are usually very light-handed about your moderating, but I think you were heavy-handed on that one bud. Appreciate ya all the same. It certainly didn’t look dirty to me, just a discussion.

The BE is currently pentile, so that s*cks. Also it’s 15 ms response so I don’t see how more than 67 hz would make sense on this HMD, since you’d be pushing out new frames faster than a pixel can even change. That’s why Pimax limited their old BE to 68 hz, so most likely the BE will be that too.

So yeah colours will be better, but refresh, ghosting and SDE worse. Pretty sure the LCD is the better overall choice here. It’s going to get interesting once they can source full RGB OLED panels, like the ones in the Star VR.

I believe Pimax 5KS is LCD and only for Asia

At Berlin @SweViver tried Pimax 5BE with oled disply. IT cost more than Pimax 8K

So Pimax 5KS cannot have Oled because the price on the website is wrong and

Wrong are specifications

This whole thing is a rollercoaster of bleeding edge tech. It’s great and chaotic and maddening all at the same time!

5KS is the original 5K, with worse screen than 5K+.

5K BE is pentile (not RGB stripe) OLED and more expensive than 8K. BE stands for business edition, so it’s not a consumer release. It still apparently has some ghosting issues and currently is only ~68 Hz refresh, so not at all interesting.

That’s because Pimax says so? The whole thing makes no sense. Why would you develop an inferior product as business edition? The product was shown in Berlin. Damage control is one of the worst things and I always prefer people to come clean. If anything this has exposed many things but i will refrain from stating the obvious.

If there is a headset in the making, I would like to know the specs and then decide if it is good or not for me.

Web developers will not invent the specs nor the name. Don’t add insult to injury because we know that it was presented in Berlin and kept secret quiet.

I’m only asking for Pimax to come clean with the specs and provide clarity instead of damage controlling the situation through some BS

Isn’t that a bit weird? Do you know what CPU’s intel is working on right now? What car Mercedes Benz will present in 2020? You never know man.

I totally agree if the product will not be proposed to the market within the next 6 months. But we do know which product will be sold from those companies.

If pimax does not bring a product within the next 6 months + then fair enough. However if they plan to propose a product within this time frame then I disagree

I see his point though, we didn’t kickstart Intel or Mercedes but Pimax are using our money to make this. Yes we probably should be happy getting what we funded but I was wanting to fund a wide fov, 4K per eye 90hz headset with oled screens. Sure the 8K didn’t have oleds but it was the next closest thing to my needs.

Unfortunately they didn’t meet those goals and now the 5K+ is the closest to my needs. But now it sounds like this other device which has been made and tested at the same time might match my needs even more but we have no option to buy it (even though they had it on a pre-order screen?).

I’ll be happy with my 5K+ but it’d be nice to have the option to switch if we want to.
