Got ideas to make Pimax Play even better for VRChat?
Whether it’s eye-tracking, UI tweaks, or software features like GPU upscaling and active window view—we’d love to hear your suggestions, but also your struggles and joys of playing VRChat!
I suppose better eye tracking. Unless something changed it was a bit primitive unless you used some separate fork.
I’d like the bottom usb port to send to your pc in AIO mode. My understanding is there is a bit of software that does this fairly easily but it requires root.
Currently, after double-clicking the PimaxPlay shortcut, a window opens, and you have to wait a while for the HMD to be ready. This is unavoidable.
Even though the field of view is already projected once tracking completes, you still need to perform 2D operations, so you can’t put the headset on yet. Furthermore, you must press the SteamVR button with the mouse and wait while looking at it to start up. Only then can you finally put it on your head and launch VRChat.
Double-clicking the shortcut might be unavoidable, but since we’re already a quarter of the way through the 21st century, I want SteamVR and my favorite games to be easier to launch within the VR space.
Two major things. Proper eye tracking, with blink that isn’t just Boolean, and, if possible, getting LibMagic working with VRC again for foveated rendering.
I’ve been using the Pimax Crystal Super, and I have to say—the visual quality is absolutely amazing, even in VRChat. It’s really impressive! That said, even with an RTX 5090, VRChat itself isn’t very well optimized, so smooth performance can still be tough. That’s why I’d really love to see dynamic foveated rendering (DFR) supported for VRChat, and ideally QuadViews as well. Even a 30% performance boost would make a huge difference.
I know Tobii licensing might make this a bit tricky, but it would also be fantastic if you could expand the eye-tracking parameters. Things like:
More detailed eyelid tracking
Pupil size
Eyebrow emulation
Expressions like tightly closing or widely opening the eyes
These are really important for expression in social VR. For the upcoming Dream Air, I think VRChat users are looking forward not only to comfort, but also to expressive and powerful eye tracking. If you can make that happen, plus support DFR/QuadViews, the Dream Air could really stand out—not just with higher specs than competitors, but with real added value for social VR.
Thanks for all the amazing work you’re doing—I’m really excited to see what comes next from Pimax!
Fix the motion tracking stuttering please. I have this issue in another thread:
It’s quite unwatchable if motion tracking cameras keep lagging behind. Even someone owns a 5090ti and set the resolution at 1900x1900, he will still has this issue, and that could be a total deal killer.
Something that may be possible after seeing the new upscaling through PimaxXR, is it possible to also do native / XR layer FXAA since I do believe nvidia drivers have native algorithms that does it through driver-level. The main issue I’ve been having with driving Super with VRChat is aliasing, the upscaling is great! But the aliasing is unbearable in VRChat but the in-game MSAA may as well undo any performance benefits from anything else, and there isn’t really a good performance option specifically for aliasing without superscaling.
Provide image cropping with correct scaling as is available in the Ohnespeed mod of OXRTookit. This allows reducing the image rendered, thereby giving a performance margin in CPU/GPU.
