I’d go with 60G Airlink, mostly because I work at Pimax and see what’s cooking, lol.
Still, part of me hopes Half-Life 3 surprises us next month.

Another disappointment. I’m not sure who’d pick the R2 over the new SteamFrame which is going to be wireless PCVR. I think even the Pico 5 will be a better choice.
What happened to Hypersonic? They have become the wide FoV company that now produces small FoV lenses.
So disappointing. I doubt Lynx will ever grow beyond a 30 man team because there are already plenty of companies that are bigger, faster and with more ambition.
The first company that puts Hypervision 140FoV lenses in a SteamOS/Steamframe HMD with 4k panels for around £1000 will be the champion of VR.
Wow what a disappointment
Yeah exactly if you’re OK with low res, better pick the valve
Today I finally received my Galaxy XR controllers so I could FINALLY run some games. I just tried HLA via virtual desktop and damn… Not even sure how to convey this experience, it’s incredible, FRIKKING INCREDIBLE on this headset!! It’s pretty much as on your monitor but then in 3D, it’s like what I always thought VR would become one day. I’m amazed that this quality is even possible using virtual desktop streaming instead of a DP cable, but it is… Beats even the AVP by quite some bit.
This really is way beyond anything I’ve experienced and seen in VR before. It’s like ALL downsides of VR have overcome, well apart of the FoV of course. But the image fidelity is like FINAL, zero need to improve from here. Sure maybe for desktop streaming a slight increase would even be be better, but for gaming, it’s like 10/10 now. The sharpness, the colors, the image stability, it’s all like it should be. Of course really zero sde or mura. None. It’s like you’re sitting behind a good oled 4k TV. No need to improve anymore
Are the panels in the Pimax Dream AIR actually the same as in the Galaxy XR? If so, damn, everybody is in for something
I still can’t believe how good HL:A looks.. When is the AIR going to get shipped? Looking forward to people’s opinions on it. Actually since it has 2 DP connectors (?) the quality should even be better since there’s no virtual deskop encoding needed, just natively playing the games. Actually I might even be interested in it. Just hoping Pimax is getting the optics right this time and that there’s really no distortion going on. And that they dont mess up the software part. But in theory this has the possibility to become the best headset ever.
Did you see Linus test the Dream Air at CES2026? As he tightened the strap the USB connector popped out. Looks like Pimax need to work on the locking mechanism as over time I can imagine the problem getting worse.

Haha yeah I saw that. But honestly I don’t care too much. The big companies all screw up when it comes to ergonomics and head straps. The AVP already was pretty bad but the Galaxy XR was really the worst possible design ever with the light seal that can’t be taken off. Worst was that that thing REALLY hurt my forehead, felt like a true torture device. So I just had to do what some brave others did and took a knife and cut it off
Actually I’ve modded both my AVP and GXR in the same way, with a CMA1 mod and some duct tape. I’ll post a photo of both headsets, you’ll laugh for sure, the name ‘frankenstein mod’ would not even be severe enough, LOL, but it’s damn comfortable and thats all I care about.
So that’s over $6000 worth of headsets, all cut up and duct taped together
Horrendously looking but super comfy
IF I get a Pimax AIR, most likely the same treatment will be waiting ![]()
But on a serious note, I really can’t understand why companies don’t take this design as a baseline and then of course well implemented without the duct tape LOL: a comfortable forehead rest (not the horrendous Galaxy XR implementation), a strap on top and pad behind really seems like the single best solution, especially if it can be adjusted enough to get the panels super close to your eyes (like in my frankenstein design, can’t get any closer to the panels than this)
Companies like Pimax should really study the Global cluster CMA1 mod and implement it as a standard, or even improve on it by making it more customizable/adjustable. I honestly don’t get it why not all companies out there are doing this. I just don’t think there’s a better way of doing this.
Unfortunately didn’t get a chance to try Galaxy XR but was at CES. The Dream Air is definitely a nice choice. It uses 2 Usb-C connectors. If the GakaxyXR is using the Sony mOled Panels then it would be the same
On the GakaxyXR Front you may like this AVP Strap mod.
Indeed though that strap is not final. I do think the level so to speak needs to be a bit bigger to help reduce wear and tar on the clip.. but will say overall the clip is pretty solid but can see it being a wear potential. But strap is replaceable
I does some things right but the biggest problem is that the distance to your eyes is not adjustable. IMHO a good strap:
That’s why I kinda hate the Pimax AIR design already just by looking at it. The current design has no way to minimize the panel distance to your eyes, something a lot of people were complaining about at CES, this means you’ll lose FoV and it will introduce distortions, exactly like some people have indicated. Also the weight/pressure distribution is pretty bad, since it’s just pressing into your cheeks. I’m sure this will be pretty uncomfortable to wear for longer sessions.
Again, I really dont get why companies all get this wrong, it’s pretty simple in my opinion. But oh well, at least I know how to do it myself now
BTW a design that I like already way better is that new Lynx R2 design, this does some of the above already way better, but still could be improved. But from all headset designs this seems like it might be one of the best, out of the box.
The Dream Air I believe is aiming to have different facial interfaces. Either made by then or through 3d printables or 3rd party. I do agree in general tho that headsets need to figure out a more adjustable facial interface beyond simple eye relief.
I did get to try the Dream Air and it dies seem decent. At least with my facial profile. Ppl at cCES overall seemed impressed and it will likely be a hit seller once released. However ppl generally need more one in one time with a headsetnto get more depth experience if pros and cons.
Making it easy to mod surely is a big plus. Definitely looks like a interesting headset, will be reading the reviews with great interest
Dream Air delayed due to locking mechanism.
Even though we think most VR headset owners treat their headsets more gently than 4 days of visitors at CES constitutes to, but still, this part of the headset needs to be refined and fortified as it doesn’t meet our standards.
I guess this is better addressed now than have hundreds of sets coming back months down the road. 2 months delay and no testing of new design??? Building connectors into pressure points is high risk imo.

Yeah that’s what I was talking about, hard to explain how extremely good it looks, but this video says more than words
