Valve Index style Headstrap with 'levatating' earpieces

Hey guys, we all saw the valve index release and their praised headstrap styled headphones.

I would love to have that on the Pimax Deluxe Audio Strap, @Doman.Chen it would be an awesome addition and it would keep pimax on the edge of the technology

Doenst look to be to difficult to achieve either and it would close the gap on the audio department !

I completely see the point of not enclosing the ears being a question of comfort but im personally very split on the off the ear phones.
How good will the bass reproduction be, it wont block out ambient room sounds and will lead to sound leakage back into the mic which is going to annoy everyone interacting with someone using the Index unless there is some sort of built in cancellation.

If the earphones on the pimax headstrap is of the type that snaps in and out you can just leave them snapped out.

Doesn’t deliver the full ASMR experience, hard left swipe.

I would prefer Pimax make a traditional design available as well, possibly being able to switch between both. Since Pimax seems fine introducing new/multiple product lines, maybe they could make both styles available for purchase so that owners can customize their headsets as desired.

eh not keen on that idea. poor sound isolation. Both you hearing everything outside, and people outside hearing what you are doing (you know for Adult VR).
Then even if they are good quality i feel like sound would be worse than if you had the same quality but as an on ear or over ear headphone.
EDIT: Meant to say, i just literally don’t see a positive, maybe getting slightly less warm ears when its hot, lol

The only positive is that they use speaker driver instead earphone drive, which is generally louder and, depending on the design, may give better immersion. Being able to hear sound outside of the experience though is a turn off for most of us, I think.

Ok that is relatively cool then, but yeah as you say that extra sound quality will often be ruined by outside noise anyway
EDIT: Even just your computer, your own moving and knocking around while playing the VR and other sounds will be more noticeable with such an open way to your ear.

Having an explanation from Valve, why they did choose this over the classic headphone design could be interesting, because I do not see much of positives in that. Currently I am using earbuds with my Pimax and quite enjoy total isolation from the external sound, plus I can have the sound levels set quite low, compared to the open design (headphone or speaker).

On Vive I used the DAS built-in headphones and while being on-ear they also provided nice isolation. I guess I prefer the isolation over the possibly better bass.

Yea, it is questionable. Whoever came up with that idea must not have a fan of any kind or AC unit installed in their house and quite possibly living on their own. For most, it’s the struggle of draining the sound from our surroundings to get the best immersive experience that matters thus we prefer isolation instead of loudness.

If pimax keeos with removable headphones from deluxe strap. With a q4(maybe) target anything is possible.

But with recent controller news may end up with non removable headphones as well or no headphones.

Hmmm at this rate they might also charge extra for the padding…
