V1 Base Stations?

I can’t seem to find the answer to this anywhere. I intend to order an 8KX but need to know if it needs new base stations or will the original V1 Vive base stations work. I will only be playing sims, seated and dont need the latest controllers either.

v1 will be fine.

8kx has v2 sensors which works with either v1 or v2 base stations.

However, you cannot mix base station types. They must be either all v1 or all v2.

As I have a Pimax Vision 8kX (demo/loaner), and I am using the v1 base stations, let me absolutely confirm, you can use the v1 base stations. They definitely work fine.

You can use v1 and v2 base stations in completely separate rooms if you do room setup or copy/paste the ‘chaperone’ files. So you could have an office setup with the old v1 base stations mounted to the walls, and some v2 base stations out in a big barn for huge room scale stuff.

Hi mirage335, thanks for confirming, I’ve only got the v1 base stations so it’ll save me a bit of money knowing I don’t need the v2 base stations. Just need a few impartial reviews now.

FWIW, I am typing this post using the Pimax 8kX headset.

EDIT: To be clear, I am not posting any reviews of the headset at this time.
