Yeah I just looked on reddit and everyone says regardless of headset that the VR performance feels like half of PC 2
btw, when I running the PiTool V1.0.2.084, the pixels blur easily, but it wasnât back when I use the version 261
There has been progress.
The minimum description of GearVrCfg.ini in aSeeVR_SDK v10.0.0.10 is below.
[MASK]
exposure = 371
It seems that it is not necessary to specify when using USB 2.0 with internal port. There is no problem even if you specify it. several another parameter description seems to be bad at this time.
In case of USB3.0, it was necessary to describe in both internal USB port / external USB from PC.
Therefore, we just write exposure = 371 and it doesnât seem to cause any problems.
Also, it doesnât make much sense, but I couldnât realize the operation when connecting with ET via USB 2.0 from PC.
Itâs an addition,
I found that my included cable really only works as USB 2.0.
I got a new Type-C to Type-C USB 3.1 cable and used it to connect the ET and HMD(8KX), and now I have USB 3.0 connection and USB 2.0 connection. It was switched by flipping the plug.
I donât know if the cable included with this ET is broken or just a USB 2.0 cable. I will ask support about this.
Edit: to add words I forgot to write and modify some words.
Now that is interesting
, nice find , so a small usb3 cable just for the hmd might work!!
can someone explain this to me in laymenâs?
The cable Pimax delivered is not good enough
Hey I think heâs saying ,that the usb cable provided is limiting the bandwidth to usb2, so can anybody that bought the longer cable 3.1 test using it on just the hmd to see if you get 120fps ??
Hello,
In my case, to get ET 120Hz / USB3.0 for 8KX under pitool 1.0.2.084 / aSeeVR_USER_SDK v10.0.0.10.
- Tied ET and PC with external USB3.1 GEN1(5Gbps)/GEN2(10Gbps)
or Tied ET to HMD with certain USB3.1 GEN1/GEN2 cable. (if getiing USB2.0, flip the plug) - Create C:\7invensun\aSeeVR_UserSDK\runtime\devices\Pimax\config\GearVrCfg.ini
(the location of config folder is may be bit differ as your PC) - write only 2line in GearVrCfg.ini as below
[MASK]
exposure = 371 - start runtime(ASeeVR) from pitool
There are two issues.
- aSeeVR SDK v10.0.0.10 coudnât operate ET@USB3.0 without modding config.
- It seems that the USB cable bundled with ET is bad quality or just a USB2.0.
Edit: sorry, add many words and fix some expressions
Is RTX card required for the calibration? I want to just test if the hardware works, I have a GTX 1080, the ET is detected in amcap at 30hz (it is connected to the upper port of the my 5k+), but I canât complete the calibration with 1.0.0.8, 1.0.0.10, with or without GearVrCfg.ini file, tried with pitool 264 and 1.0.2.084.
I know DFR wonât work until I get a new GPU, but I want to know if it is working or not (the market went crazy with the nvidia shortage, so Iâll wait a bit for it).
Edit: connecting to the port in the bottom of the hmd (using a plastic cap to isolate the top port) itâs detected as Droloon Pi1, instead of USB Video Device, but still no calibration working.
cant say for sure but it seems unlikely to need rtx
its a separate unity app
C:\7invensun\aSeeVR_UserSDK\runtime\apps\aSeeVRUnityCalibration\
the rtx requirement is about the rendering in a vr game using specific nvidia stuff, the unity app is just about some plain graphics and the ir cams
i guess you could even use it as input device when calibrated, the rtx is just for ffr/dfr in games
how did you conenct it? maybe try with a usb3 cable near your pc just to test it with 120Hz
did you try the cingig file with just the line from above?
maybe try to use the config directory from 1.0.0.8 with 1.0.0.10 as i did (see above)
So we could use the pimax eye-tracking with, letâs say, a valve index? We just need an extra usb cable (from the front of the headsetâs usb-a to the modules usb-c) and the asee software integrated in steamvr. Hmm⊠anyone wanna try?
Tried both version, I tested with the short cable that come with the device directly to the motherboard, but same, the green dots go away after 1s, with or without config file. Iâll try to get a 3.0 cable tomorrow.
the pimax version is a more wider then the original we saw earlier and that unit was advertised a vive
i guess you would need to play with some of the config settings to compensate for different position and angle
seems to have settings for all htcâs?
that was exactly the thing as the config was not working and i had to use the old one from 1.0.0.8
I asked support and confirmed now that this bundled cable is USB2.0.
This special cable has greatly puzzled us. Is it a rare configuration rather than special?
There seems to be a purpose to limit the stream speed to USB2.0(480Mbps).
Hi with the bundled cable I get 60fps max , I have ordered a short usb 3.1 cable , see if I can get 120fps!
No sign of a new pitool , I wonder if they can hit 120fps with an update??
120fps@640x480 is the goal. 120fps alone is not enough. Precision needs resolution.
If I use the usb2.0 side of the cable I can get only 30fps@480p. If I turn the plug around I can get 120fps@480p (118fps precisely) in amcap software but the start of the calibration letâs my 8kX go dark and I have to repower it to be usable againâŠ
Yeah I get 60fps @ 640x480 with the bundled cable,
Using 1.0.0.10 , works good in HLAlyx was able to increase settings!!
Just so itâs absolutely clear.
Iâve unmounted my module else I would just check it myself, but I just want to know exactly what is the âproperâ way of mounting it⊠![]()
Can we agree that the angled plug goes into the headset?
If yes, do You mean flipping the (straight) module side plug 180 degrees to make it work as USB 3.0?
Thatâs what Pimax told us to do. Flip the straight plug for either usb 3.0 or 2.0
i am suprised. must try myself. what pitools version are you using? do you use PTE?
