Upload-vr CES controversy

I played it as well. Good times! Too bad it took so long to get to where we are now.

True, but then of course you have people who have never been able to dial in the optics with their kickstarter 5k+ but every other HMD is fine (rift, rfit s, vive, Quest, Index etc…) so…

It seems some people have a harder time adjusting (and tweeking their seetings) to get comfortable with Pimax. I wonder if it’s because of the optics or what.

I was thinking of the eye-tracker and the potential to have it automatically set the correct ipd values for you.

But I learned that the depth of ones eyes matter too. I myself have eyes a bit deeper in my skull as others, and I recently had a discussion about finding the correct ipd settings with someone who had the same ipd value as me but did not respond well to my settings.

Would the eye-tracker be able to see how deep your eyes are in the eye sockets too?

I had to fine tune my Odyssey and the Visor also every time so that I didn’t get a headache from the strap and some how got that tiny sweet spot into my view - I did have to adjust my pimax to be about 1 cm further away from my check bones but that’s it. A lot less trouble then with the other HMDs but never read anything about that - even that the odyssey was so comfortable - for me the visor was better …

So it’s personal but a professional should know all that and know how to be as objective as possible…

While I do not like upload (at all & Daid Haney) is there anything incorrect in the article? Seems pretty accurate to me.

Ah, so its the person. Yeah, I mean what 5 months of trying from a computer “expert”, a person who’s been into VR since DK1 (well really first use of VR was 91 ) Trying different foams, Face masks, Velco, DAS, 3D printed slats etc. Yes some people seem totally fine with the HMD. I don’t expect perfection but dam I want to use my HMD with out F’in eye strain!!!

8k X sounds awesome! But I do not know if I can even trust these videos (MRTV, Sweviver both loved the 5k+) and 10 mins hands on articles. I don’t want to get burned again.

This is my statement on the UploadVR article about Pimax moving support centres back to china. I bet it will be removed in a few minutes.

Damn, thats quite the message, I love it !

This is true for many. However much easier to dial in simple optics vs hybrid custom optics. Less variation in simple optics to accommodate.

Definitely need better control over statements being made.

I wouldn’t worry about that.

Although I myself regard anything Heaney says just about as proof of its direct opposite, the type of reactions you exhibited there is infamous for only making the offended party itself look bad, sometimes to the point the induced perception has sunk companies, no matter how undeserved.

So I doubt they’ll remove it; Rather point to it, and say “See? -This is the kind of people we are dealing with here”.

It’s easy to perceive the kid on the other side of the see-saw as fat.

Hey Martin, you bet it will be removed soon - my comment was removed quite quickly too.

What a website, wow. It‘s really really poor.

It does suck that UploadVR would post such an article about the Pimax 8KX. Fortunately, we here at the forums all know it’s fantastic tech and will be enjoying Half Life Alyx in glorious 4K resolution soon enough, while they play it at almost a 3rd of the resolution and half the FOV. :smirk:

Wait, pimax forum is criticising deleting posts, hiding threads. Hmmmmmm.

Fake news or not, smear campaign or not, UploadVR is the only media treating every VR/AR news from every brand. Of course I prefer RoadtoVr but these days they treat 3-4 news a week :frowning:
UploadVR isn’t so bad if we focus on facts and not on feelings like editorials or hand-on reviews

For French users, I suggest ETR (but avoid realite-virtuelle.fr, their job is to copy paste UploadVR including fake news ^^)

Just gave that a read very interesting view, but it seems like they just haven’t had the HMD adjusted correctly for them. I watched a good few live streams from @mixedrealityTV, @vrgamerdude and @SweViver from the show and most people had a good impressions of the HMD and a lot mentioned the wasn’t much distortion.

When Pimax had other games available I am not sure why he chose Boneworks if he had issues with motion sickness before with that game. Seems like an odd choice to me. But, I’m sure people looking to invest in a Pimax will not take the word of one person, and look around and see the praise it has been getting.
