Thinking of switching my pre-order from Super Micro-OLED to Dream Air

Also I forgot, and the point of this thread :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: . Last week I switched to Dream Air LH.

The CS M-OLED was already on the way to local warehouse (surprising for very late December order), so now I will be at the back of the queue. 4-6 months or so I guess.

Will we soon have an announcement about Dream Air Slam shipments?

Should my December 2024 order be arriving soon?

I’d say less than that~

The Dream Air Slam is still in production. Pimax support gave me this timeline, take it with a pinch of salt.

Shipping theoretically starts Feb, but I’d give it some months to arrive. Depending on your viewpoint, calling it soon may be a stretch

That’s good to know, thanks :folded_hands:t4:

Ok thanks. I’m getting about the same in cities. In space around less busy stations it’s incredibly low. So it points to some major optimizations needed on the CIG end.

Yeah, they’re always optimizing every component and will keep doing so. Plenty of bugs, but plenty of improvements too hehe!

The game streams in entities to your system, whether that is a city, or a spaceship belonging to another player (things like 2D CPU + GPU performance / client + server FPS / entity count etc can be checked from the game’s diagnostics overlays). Multiple fully crewed capital class ships converging on the same location will add load

A practical concern has just occurred to me, which I’ve not had to deal with before.

As above, until now I’ve always been to wear my compact glasses in VR with many headsets. But this seems less practical with the M-OLED optical engine in general, and most of all with small form factor headsets like the Dream Air.

With glasses on, if I need to check a keyboard key (and I frequently do), or see something on my screen, I can nose peek or lift the headset a bit, or ofc some headsets / straps have a hinge to swing the unit up.

With only lens inserts this is obviously going to be a new problem to solve. I won’t be able to read things well enough in RL without glasses on.

No passthrough rules that option out. Suddenly hoping for a hinge option so I can swing up the Air and put glasses on quickly to check things (the MeganeX system seems very practical). Although I didn’t want a heavy strap for sure like the old Pimax ones, as that somewhat defeats the point of the Air.

I suppose the headset is light enough that you can just quickly remove it entirely. This is something practical I’ll have to think about.

I was thinking about firing up my 8KX to see how it performs with a 5090. I havnt used it in a few years. What is the best PiPlay or equivalent software you are running? Thanks !
