This is beginning to sound like a hardware issue.

I still recommend you to upgrade your motherboard sound drivers… try that atleast.

I’m reading conflicting information of does a usb sound device need a soundcard to work. It apparently depends on the device.

I think it does, if it’s kind of pass-thru device without any actual sound circuitry.

I found this & might help

Also this from ms forum

@anon74848233 it might be an idea to see if the team can implement a custom mic driver as microsoft doesn’t seem to be making fixing their generic usb mic driver a priority.

i tried it but doesnt work a pitty…

i had this issue as well but its gone after i boosted the setting in windows microphone properties.

but i dont have that boost settings? only the gain slider…

i dont have that booster slider either i mean the vol slider was on like 75% but on 100 its fine for me.

people say the volume is on the low side when i play contractors online,

and if you look at the mic gain levels when speaking it is indeed very low…

I wonder if a registry value might force boost the mic level or a setup file in steam?

Alternatively might be able to set boost slider with both USB mic & standatd mic plugged in. (Need to test)

i wish there was an ini file to increase the AGC(auto gain control)
i dont have a solution yet,am i the only one?

I think a mic boost option in the pitool app is a must, because some people like me dont have that option in windows 10.
