Why don’t you ask him if he has problems with the shaking and the Pimax software?
Or anyone who actually have tried it?
I’ve already asked him.
And on the video you posted of Squadrons, he is using the SimRacing Studio joystick plugin. And it does not have vibration implemented yet, it will come in the next beta. So no shaking problems at all.
You can believe me or not, but the motion cancellation of Pitool does not compensate the vibration at all, it shakes the picture to much and it provokes tracking problems.
It can’t recenter the view, and the motion compensation center is the tracker, not your own position.
It’s way better with OpenVR imput emulator, no shaking, it compensates the vibration perfectly, and no tracking problems, and you can place the tracker or controller wherever you want, and in the position you want, horizontally or vertically, you push recenter and that’s it. Just works. Without shaking your screen like crazy.
And it does not works with any Pimax headset.
It has been requested for more than one year though.
So just if anyone’s interested this is what i did on the 8k X… PP On, PiTool 1.0, SteamVR SS 50%, No smart smoothing or repro, All medium VR Graphic settings in game except VR Shadows on Low… Windowed mode on the monitor - got 75fps flat. This was my first run to get it at 75fps but i plan to try increasing SteamVR SS to 60 and higher later. The Resolution SteamVR shows me with PP on is REALLY high it’s like 4800x4200 or something like that at 100% SS, so i had to drop to 50% which was 3k+ x 3k+ resolution
God, I now wish I had backed that kickstarter. How was I supposed to know that in late 2020 EA of all companies would step up and release two dream VR titles.
BTW. EA now has done more original VR content that Bethesda in their entire history. (Bethesda claims they were totally a serious VR company before that dastardly John Carmack stole their work)
5k+ / rtx 3080
72hz normal was solid 72hz but very stuttery,No smoothing, low settings.
90hz normal solid but stuttery, no smoothing, low settings.
120hz normal with motion smoothing much better but not perfect, smoothing on.
Low settings.
Need to test a lot more settings and recommendations in Pitool res and in game. just a quick look so far.
Pitool res 2
Steam vr 30%, steam vr app 100%.
I am still hopeful for this title as its gameplay and hotas support is better than i imagined :).
Blurry blurry stars but game almost looks sharp otherwise. A buggy mess full of potential.
Weird that yours is so bad. I just played about an hour of the single player campaign and it ran great. I have the settings mostly on Ultra with a few on high (volumetric/lighting- high /shadows -medium).
Pitool set on 1, No Smoothing, PP on, SteamVR 100%, 2080ti
Thank you for posting your settings! I’ve been trying the game a couple of hours. Those blurry stars in the background really is distracting so I hope they fix that soon. That said, I feel like this game suffers from the same problems as Assetto Corsa competizione and pcars-series. They look good on a screen, but in VR far away details are blurry and noisy. Sims like iracing and assetto Corsa is easier to get a clear and defined image close and far away.
As some in this thread has had better luck with earlier drivers I hope this game will improve in regards to visuals/FPS.
Guys, I had VR toggled off and was switching my 2D window around in SWS’ options and noticed there was one “monitor” that actually allowed 75Hz to sync to.
I don’t have such a monitor. But the 8KX.
The game seems to have trouble differentiating what it’s looking at, just like with the HOTAS. Many people report these issues. For me it runs fine now, following my algorithm on driver 456.38 from above is essential.
But the skyboxes are still blurry and atrocious… like many report. Many headsets are affected by that.
