Interesting. It so happens that you are one of the very tiny group of people that got the headset. I can only wonder why the customer service is so good in your opinion. heh.
Did you see me complain about having issues with ordering the headset? I haven’t gotten into reservation queue as early as other people but early enough to still get into July-August delivery date. I actually haven’t heard about the VR1 untill late November 2023. If you just wanted to find some opening to randomly praise the company then read again because I haven’t complained about not being in a group of first customers.
My issue is with complete lack of information for anyone but roughly first 70 customers. This is not some chinese toy for 50 bucks that can be temporarily out of stock for unspecified amount of time. It’s a high end device and a bare minimum should be providing a delivery date that is roughly estimated correctly. Especially when first estimations has gotten shot dead already.
We have nothing that indicates when we’re getting our products. At least the CEO should provide somewhat realistic estimations if production uncertainty makes it not possible to provide solid dates. I understand fully that some delays happen unexpectidely. I don’t understand lack of information that at this point clearly indicates that things are not going as planned and CEO is just scared to say anything directly and would rather move the goal post every 2 weeks. I also don’t enjoy seeing users being actively shot down and treated the way they are. It’s not professional and not a good look.
Edit: to your point of crtisizm. The above screenshots show everything people need to know about him “taking critisizm very well”. There are countless of examples from the past that he actually doesn’t take it well at all especially when someone makes a point that directly unveils some vague or false info of his
It absolutely wasn’t a miscommunication as this is not the first time CEO talks about being “offended” and the like. But feel free to call it that way. You can’t distort the reality. This was a very mild case. Everything the CEO said and the way he acted is on the discord server chat. It’s easy for someone to face people who support him constantly without a single complaint and it’s easy to be nice and positive when things go well, the moment things go south that’s when the person’s mask often cracks. His mask cracked many many times.
Also I don’t deny the product is great. One of the people I know from VR Chat have gotten to test one on a showcasing event in Japan and I heard impression directly from them. That is the only reason I haven’t yet cancelled my order. And partially because I like to collect headsets. I’ve pre-ordered Pimax Super and Meganex as well. Waiting for the Samsung one next year too. All I require from this CEO is something as simple as just being real with his customers and giving adequate information that as of now nobody but first 70 people who ordered have.
I have not ordered it as it has a steep price and I will wait to see the production version on the street first, which seems to be starting now.
As to the conversation - tbh I can see why somebody like Artur gets tired with people explaining him his business. And sometimes there are people who offer good advice, sure, but imho it did sound a bit patronizing to come up with pretty basic stuff like „why didn‘t they try this metal or carbon fibre“ and then wonder why he rolls his eyes…
So the new prices announced. I guess this prices the VR-1 out of the market for many. The price difference between Crystal the VR-1 is now vast and I’m not sure why people would pay around £1000 more for the VR-1.
The crazy thing is their excess lead time to market has meant the vr1 hardware is in danger of becoming dated, considering I’ve been using my Crystal with the same display panels for over a year.
Again the same display panels in my Crystal Light which is less than 1/3rd price of vr1
The lack of audio is just baffling on the vr1, they proudly show the mods customer have made including installing the Vive das with adapter.
So take your overpriced headset and have to do fundamental modification to provide sound, and not even good sound in the case of the das.
Pimax have this right with their modular audio allowing smas or Dmas
