We are still working on the DMAS but we did indeed release an upgraded sound system called the KDMAS that is a quite popular option and vastly superior audio quality to SMAS.

when you have a bar set so low anything could be a significant improvement

If you refer to the basic product, i.e. the HMD, without the secondary products, Pimax cannot complain.
All headsets from other manufacturers are not better. xD
I’m purely referring to the smas. I like my 8kx, but I’m gonna be brutally honest here, the accessories currently is meh, and I hope dmas will be the one other thing that’s done right, apart from the main product the vr headset.
there is a solution, buy an adapter on etsy, buy the VIVE DAS and enjoy. I bought it for my 5K a year ago,now I use it for my 8KX. Maybe or maybe not, PIMAX is able to deliver, but it is a waste of time to wait, if there already is a feasible solution. There is always a way to tweak with medium effort.

The KDMAS has upgraded sound over the Vive DAS and the upgrade is half the price and very simple to install.

Hm. Vive shows 120€ for the Vive DAS, and Yes You need adapters, too.
KDMAS is 119.99€, so indeed, a little bit cheaper (1ct)
Then add freight and customs taxes to both…
Beyond that, audio quality and comfort to be compared. I think about it.
Yes that’s a solution, but really I am personally not looking to find a solution to solve a solution that was meant to solve the original problem. If you know what I mean.
And its too late in the game coz dmas may be just around the corner. God i hope I’m right.

If someone already has the SMAS the KDMAS upgrade is just ~$50. So 75% less or so and generally available.
Plus you can just snap on additional upgrades like DMAS and 3rd party speakers unlike the DAS.
Agreed. Assumed, the SMAS fits well, it is a good upgrade.
I found the need to add foam at strategic points and a need to at my Studioform Creative top strap. but the KDMAS has replaced my Vive Das for fit.
As for the audio the ear cups need extentions to fit well for me but even at that I don’t consider the sound better than the Vive. On the contrary.
That said I don’t use headphone for gaming so my choice is only based on comfort.
It’s an upgraded version of the driver so technically it’s better across the board, especially for bass response.
All the technically stuff aside, just like people see at different frequencies so to do they hear. Being a forum “IMO” is always in force. Regardless, I find neither solution to my liking. imo
I just want the sound system upgrade I paid for at Pre order. Oct 2019 ! Whats todays date?
