Pitool 260 So far, so good

i sold them, because i have always had problems with the distortion.

Also i always cant get close enough to the lenses, and i had some crosseye feeling that felt not right. And i didnt like the colors(exept the colors of the xr offcourse)

Ps didnt test the brightness i think on pitool 244

So my upcoming pimax 8kx will be sold also very quikly i think…(i dont hope so ofcourse)

I think it’s the Akyx update. Had a couple of crashes in Alyx today with PT249 which I have used for some time without trouble.

Maybe @TheVRRealm knows about adjusting backlight on the XR? He has one (or has had one?)… :slightly_smiling_face:

Or @TheIronWolf maybe?

Might find others with this search:

So far this thread seems to indicate this is a hopeful candidate for me to test with DCS World. Might finally be able to move from (IIRC?) PiTool .248 .

Why do you think 253 is faster? My testing of 259 puts it at the same FPS as 253. Yet 253 would have a spike every 1 and half second. So if this is the same performance as 259 then 253 is obsolete in my eyes

Same for me :frowning:

With 259, I played Alyx for 90min without noticing issues. I’ll play Alyx soon with 260 and report back.

Is this Pitool 260 an official Pimax release Build?
And if yes, does it solve the dimmed brightness bug?

After a reboot my HLA issues went away. Although new issues have popped up since. I was playing Rachet NX and all the 2d objects (menu’s, etc) were missing (close and reopen didn’t fix it). Then I went into Saireto VR and the controllers and in game objects would disappear and reappear depending on the angle my head was at. At the extremes like usual but also in the middle of the frame. Very trippy.

For me it fixed the dimmed screen issue

maybe because 260 give us less resolution with pitool at 1, 1 in 253 is like 1,25 in 260…

I have run 253 in fruit ninja with reprojection turned off. Steamvr resolution reported at roughly 6000x* for both 253 and 259. Both ran at roughly the same timings expect 253 would have a spike every second or so. 253 was my go to pitool before as I always got 5-8 FPS more. But this version makes 253 obsolete by a large margin with all its updated features and very stable timings.

Edit… I’ll just say my testing was done with 259. But considering this is just a hotfix for the dim issue I see no reason this isn’t the same performance

Yes pitool 260 is a Pimax release. It is a beta release and should fix the brightness issue on the 5k+ that was introduced in 259.

You may need to reboot and/or replug headset in.

Thank you Pimax!

Can someone remind me of the contrast and brightness offset that gives the best PQ on the 5k+

I normally use +2 contrast and -2 brightness as far as I remember.

I’ve installed this, have gone from 258 to 260. Should it have installed new firmware on an 8k+ or is that a separate download? I don’t see the 110hz option.

Thanks
Fred

Use the check firmwsre in pitool. It should identify and give option to download and install new firmware if available.

No that didn’t work, it told me it was upto date.

However found the link and did it manually, no problems to report after a quick whirl in iRacing at 110hz

There´s too much ghosting in 144hz - it´s unusable.
In addition, the lack of 64hz checkbox remains (I prefer to use 64hz with Large/Normal FOV than 120hz with smarth smoothing limited to 110-125º FOV).
